We do but only in a designated area. You cant take it back to your seat.

RE: CRAFT BEER CUSA
Never mind me, someone already made the comment I wanted to make

But while I'm wasting the space, I wonder if anyone would be interested in doing some sort of CUSA 14-pack or 28-pack where every school gets one or two beers to represent them, and we distribute to interested fans. Like a beer trade, but I guess more centralized?

Houston has more craft brewers than you can count at this point. The great thing is you can get them to sponsor tailgates. We’ve mostly stuck with the Rice affiliated ones but have also had multiple kegs from Eureka and 8th Wonder. Platypus is pretty decent too (Australian place).

Karbach isn’t really craft anymore, those Aggies sold out to Anhueser-Busch InBev. For those unfamiliar Saint Arnold’s and Karbach are the 2 big boys in Houston.

Karbach > Saint Arnold's

I love Karbach's Love Street, Weekend Warrior, and Hopadillo IPA

I like Karbach but they aren’t craft anymore. You should’ve been here when they sold out, one bar did a fire sale of all Karbach beers for under $1 then threw the rest of it away after the weekend.

Karbach used to be better than Saint Arnold's. But a combination of Karbach selling out, and St. Arnold developing much better year-round beers (HELLLLOOOOO Art Car IPA), and I've knocked Karbach down a peg or two. Plus, St. Arnold's special releases are heads and tails above Karbach's.

I consider the big beers in Houston to be St. Arnold, Karbach, Buffalo Bayou, and 8th Wonder (not a fan though).

Coming in just behind those in the sort of next tier are Eureka Heights, Brash, Holler, and Lone Pint (pretty much solely because of Yellow Rose).

Then you have a bunch of other breweries fighting for scraps.

While the scene has exploded recently, I wish the locations of the breweries weren't so Houston-like. They're all over town and there is absolutely no density, which means you can't do any real crawling between breweries like you can in other cities.

Very distinct Lager I like it, they have added a visitors center where you can sample their brews. Tonight I'm enjoying Hopbox variety pack from FootHills, I'm also downing a few Sam Adams Octoberfest. Sam Adams is the only national brand I drink now.

RE: CRAFT BEER CUSA
Mississippi is behind when it comes to the craft brewing game due in part to archaic regulations on alcohol percentages and the ability to sell canned/bottled beers directly at the breweries. However they have slowly been relaxed over the past 10 years. With that said, we have some good local breweries within a short distance of Hattiesburg/Biloxi.

Southern Prohibition (Hattiesburg, MS)- Try FireAnt, Suzy B, Crowd Control, and Devil's Harvest. Great taproom in Downtown Hattiesburg, Mercury Pizza Co. typically has their food truck parked outside on weekends.
http://soprobrewing.com/beer

Chandeleur Island (Gulfport, MS - approx 1 hr away)- Try Lil Miss, Lil Smack, and Surfside. Small taproom in Downtown Gulfport. Typically has a lot of rotating/new styles to try and are always doing something different. They have a lot of the lighter summer beers, sours, etc. if you're into that.
https://chandeleurbrew.com/p/beers

Lazy Magnolia (Kiln, MS - approx 1 hr away)- Try Southern Gold (USM themed beer), Belgian IPA, and Southern Pecan (their signature beer). Mississippi's oldest brewery in the hometown of Brett Favre. I haven't been there yet, but I've heard their taproom is top notch with live music on the weekends.
https://www.lazymagnolia.com/our-beers/

Biloxi Brewing (Biloxi, MS - approx 1hr 15min away)- Try Biloxi Blonde, and Salty Dog. Smaller brewery in Biloxi. Walking distance to MGM Park (for the CUSA tournament). All of their beers have some sort of coastal tie-in/theme (much like Chandeleur). Also, Mississippi Brewing currently brews their beers out of Biloxi's facilities. Haven't had the chance to try any yet.
https://www.biloxibrewing.com/beers/

Slowboat Brewing (Laurel, MS - approx 30 min away)- Try Into the Mystic and Dairy of a Madman. Small brewery in Laurel. Has really stuck to their three main brews, but Into the Mystic and Dairy of a Madman are among my favorites.
http://www.slowboatbrewco.com/drink-slowboat/

Additionally Jackson, MS (about an hour and a half away) has Luckytown Brewery and Cathead Distillery (Gin and Vodka)

Bonus:
Keg and Barrel (Hattiesburg, MS) - Pub style restaurant which had (at one point) the most beers on tap in the state. Most of the taps rotate weekly with local, regional, and national/international beers.

The Porter Public House (Hattiesburg, MS) - Pub style restaurant with a large amount of taps, and good beers/drinks/food.

Double Secret Bonus: Since I'm a recent New Orleans resident: Urban South, Courtyard Brewing, and Wayward Owl Brewing are also great places with great beers (among multiple others).

I don't think that's unique to Mississippi, Georgia only started allowing breweries to sell by the package at the brewery 13 months ago or so and I know Alabama has/had some pretty crazy ABV laws.

Definitely agree. There's places all over the US that are still dry counties and towns. I was just trying to make the point that Mississippi hasn't had the environment (or really the population) for many craft breweries to pop up.

I stopped by Lazy Magnolia on my way to the beach this summer and sampled of their beer, very good stuff.

They have a pecan ale that while i cant stand to drink it, it makes an excellent basting liquid if your smoking any kind of pork

UAB's entry (+ mi from Legion Field) & most popular brews:

Good People (2.1), Ghost Train (3.5), Trim Tab (3.6), Avondale (4.5), Cahaba (5.1), Red Hills (7.4)

Also, hit up Hop City or The J Clyde for the best selections at their bars.

San Antonio - Here are a few of my favorites

Freetail Brewing - UTSA alumni owned and can be found in ALAMODOME on gameday (my favorites: Bat out of Helles, Original Ale)

Alamo Brewery - Great local establishment and can also be found in the ALAMODOME on gameday (my favorites: Alamo Golden Ale, Alamo Pilsner)

Ranger Creek Brewing - Also do whisky and my go to local beer (my favorites: San Antonio Ale, Love Struck Hefe, Mission Trail)

5 Stones Brewery - Small and typically only offer seasonal beer (my favorites: Camo, Toby G's, Norma Jean)

I'll claim Real Ale in Blanco for UTSA since its within the gravitational pull of greater San Antonio.

Definitely the best brewery in the area IMO. Their Pinsetter amber is part of my regular diet.

I agree, Real Ale is the best brewery in the area. Pinsetter is a solid choice. That was my go to beer for several months last Spring. Currently Commisar is my favorite from Real Ale but there are plenty of good ones to choose from this brewery.

One of my all time favorites is Blakkr which was a limited release between Real Ale, Three Floyds and Surly.

They opened that space up, maybe a month ago. It’s a true gem and gets a lot of very deserved love.

If you’re back for work, I’d suggest visiting Holler over 8th Wonder. 8th Wonder has kitschy names that are fun, but outside of their Vietnamese Coffee Porter (Rocket Fuel), I find them very meh. Holler is doing really good beer for a really small brewery.

I've had beers from both those breweries as well as Lakewood, Noble Rey, Texas Ale Project and Tupps at minimum, Deep Ellum just stands out because I've been there more than once and we have some great memories there.

We watched a World Cup game at Peticolas back in July actually.
