His market value would have decreased for a couple of years had he stayed. As is, he got a good job at probably his peak market value and gets to stay local. I'm happy for him.
I wouldn't call it the best thing that could have happened to him. If they were going to fire him they should have done it as soon as our season was over. Instead they waited until there were no good job openings left so his options were take the South Dakota job or the TCU assistant job. The timing of the firing just didn't make sense and contributed to the backlash which ended up reaching a national level.
I've watched what they've been doing with the program since from afar. Nothing so far tells me this squad is going to be going to a tourney any time soon. We've essentially rebooted our program at a point when the current top teams are widening the gap between the rest of the conference. GA St is now pulling in 4-star recruits to add to he haul of talent they've been pulling in from the Atlanta area (scary). Louisiana is always solid and picked up some good recruits. At this point the conference and tourney championship is going to go through both of them.
they didnt treat coach cross very well. I glad he was picked up for a one deal over at tcu..shows that they respected him..buys him some time to look around
I wish they could bring back Scott Cross, but if he can't come back, I would happily settle for Baker and Karbhari leaving. Is that too harsh?
Not too much to ask lol. I think if Cross comes back it will be at the end of his career. I think his next stop is a high rated mid-major or low rated high major.

This reminds me of Billy Tubbs' return to Lamar University towards the end of his coaching career, with Bobby Knight's son as his assistant and heir apparent. It turned out that Tubbs' main role was as a leading fund raiser for the football restart.
They were successful at resurrecting Lamar football, but their basketball program did not prosper under Knight, Jr.
