I really have no business over here but this guy 00 message boards. The Gumps were UNBEARABLE back then. I’ve stated many times their football team is what I wanted Western to be like. And they had multiple moderators that shouldn’t moderate a Mario Kart game much less a sports board.

Funny how time passes. I actually congratulated them on the big win recently. But back then I was sticking pins in Troy fan voodoo dolls.

I’ve been meaning to drop this off over here for awhile. I know it’s OT but.

Are we talking forums or actual games? There's a huge difference there.

True statement.

As far as away games i've been to my list would be

1) APP
2) Troy
3) USA
4) Gast
5) Coastal

My general feeling is... The better the team performs on the field, the worse their fans are (again, this is a general feeling).

Which is why we are the nicest folks around.

But lord have mercy should we right this ship... Talk about a fanbase that is NOT used to winning and doesn't know how to act? I'd be embarrassed, but dammit, with our leadership I'm not sure I'll live to see that day. :(

Fans I would like to hang with at bar or pregame? Is that basically what the question is?

3. App, most are pretty cool, but I've seen a few nutjobs up in Boone.

5. ULL, mainly for the drinks and food

10. Those non-football schools, can't remember, doesn't matter. (this is a joke don't be offended)

I've literally never had a problem with any opposing fan in person -- except the fat dude in overalls at UGA who barked at us and told us the stadium was the other direction while we could literally see the stadium.

Had good conversations pre-game and post-game with Ark State folks this weekend and I'm sure it will be the same with USA.

Saw a grown man pour his drink on a teenage girl for wearing blue and white instead of red and black last time I was in Athens. He got a swift uppercut from the girl's older brother or dad before both men were arrested by Athens Police. Compared to that, everyone here is fine folk.

The "problem" with forums is that everyone posts as if everyone in the forum is the same age as the poster. The more vocal fan forums tend to be 18-21 and act like it, i.e. not emotionally mature. They're also a very small minority of the real fan base. "In real life", I've never had a problem with a fan from any school. I find that opposing fans are just as excited to be there as I am, and just as happy to engage in conversation. That elevates the game to me to another level of happiness because I don't *have* to be there. Since I am, making the experience as awesome as possible for them does the same for me.

I've been to a lot of stadiums and every school has their share of idiot fans. Don't give them any ammo, just smile and move on.

Most of those people aren't even football/Sports fans ... every college town has em.

I was taking a leak at Cajun Field in 2013 or 2014 and the Cajun at the urinal next to me said "you're not dirty seal are you?"

One of my closest friends is a Troy grad. I made a point to add just the experience from the board. When times were tough Troy fans were completely awol from the board conversation. Anybody else remember? Kinda hard to believe it'n it? Seems more like a Troy board up in here now.
