Very interesting.

We are 2 - 2 but I think MUCH, MUCH better than the record indicates.

We have an OT loss to a very good team on the left coast and an away loss to a top 2 MAC team.

This is a very solid team.

Does Glass start from here on out?
Alot of football to be played

If we play a team which has mediocre rush defense, Wiegers can start and probably pick the other team apart.

Teams have adjusted Steve the way to get to Wiegers is blitz the hell out of him he is not very mobile in the pocket NIU will do the same with Wiegers

I agree so long as NIU has Sutton Smith Wiegers will be an easy target.

Agree.... Purdue showed our weakness in picking up the blitz and Buffalo got to Weigers making him ineffective. Glass should be our starting QB moving forward.

RE: GameDay: @SDSU
Very proud of how well and how hard our entire football team played against SDSU. While the game unfolded, it was clear to me, that EMU was better than SDSU for most of the game. I love coach Creighton as the CEO of our football program, but we're not snake bitten, we got beat by some questionable coaching decisions. If we're going to win the MAC West, we can not keep making these coaching mistakes:

1) Glass should be our starting QB. Two games in a row, we get into a hole and Glass gets the offense rolling. Weigers is deadly accurate but has virtually no mobility in the pocket. The QB shuffle will hurt this team. I believe we can win with one of the two QBs, but Glass has more potential and should get the majority of the reps in practice that will make him and the O better week to week.

2) We've got to stop the OLine shuffle. Some failure modes from the OLine shuffle include penalties (false start, missed assignments, etc). I get rotating skilled positions based on the play that's called but pick the best OLine and give them the reps in practice that will make us more efficient.

3) An additional failure mode from too many substitutions (QB shuffle, OLine rotation, etc) has lead us to calling unnecessary timeouts.

4) After taking a 20-17 lead, I didn't understand the squib kick that gave SD the ball at their 44 yard line. That was a head scratcher....

5) Very disappointed that we had the ball with the scored tied and a minute and change to play with no time outs and didn't try to get a couple first downs and attempt a long game winning FG. Got to save those TOs.

Finally, I saw a lot of improvement from our team. Holding SDSU to 23 points is fantastic! They got some big runs but I thought our front four improved over last week. Our receivers are very good and consistent. Overall, these receivers are better than any previous collection I've seen since 1986. Glass seems to be a conference star in the making. I didn't review our final stats, but our RBs and OLine improved over last week. Shaq Vann looks like he's ready to become the #1 back. Ryland...wow this kid has a big leg!

RE: GameDay: @SDSU
EMU football is simply no longer a comedy. I realize that CBS sports dictated the game time and I think we acquitted ourselves well considering we were playing a high quality opponent in their stadium well after midnight.

I pondered when was the last time that Eastern played a football game where they truly got thumped and had no chance to win the game after the third quarter. Frankly I had to go back to October 2016 when Miami and Toledo kicked our ass at The Factory and WMU was just plain crazy good. Still those losses were by 13,14 and 15 points, hardly embarrassing blowouts.

Coach Creighton has his issues to be sure. Nevertheless EMU football is in the best place it has been since the 1980's with Jim Harkema.

Yep I went and posted some comments. Do you want more EMU coverage? Take 3 minutes to sign in and write a positive comment about EMU football. If there are no comments on their article, they'll probably assume no one cares which is very inaccurate.

Please post a comment.

Not sure I agree that Glass should be the starter.

Wiegers is not an appropriate backup QB. Glass is a perfect 'relief pitcher.'

Go with Wiegers as long as he can. Do remember we played the TOUGHEST part of our schedule now (Purdue, UB, and SDSU). My guess is that TOL is the only team comparable to them.

SDSU has a very good rush defense.

There might be MAC games where Wiegers plays the entire game and maybe completes say 14 / 20 throws.
