Lol! I was actually about to say that it hasn't happened in the FBS era for us, but I didn't even think about yesterday.
I feel dirty about counting that one considering the circumstances.
I'm sure he means OOC road FBS game.
Which for us has not happened yet. All of our road FBS wins are against conference foes and all of our OOC FBS wins have come at home.
We have a decent shot to get a road OOC victory this year against UMass though.
Idaho last year
But OOC we’ve only played 2 or 3 ever

RE: Whyen is the last time you won a non-conference road game?
We won at ODU in 2015, at Akron in 2016, and at UNCC in 2018. Lost in OT in 2017 at UMass, and I believe on one of the last plays of the game in 2014 at Southern Miss. All other road games have been P5. Georgia, Clemson, Tennessee, Penn State. Tennessee and Penn State we came very close. We played Georgia tighter than 10 of the 12 teams on their regular season schedule last year if I recall. Clemson did not go well.

Idaho was in conference.
Like I said, All of our road FBS wins are against conference foes and all of our OOC FBS wins have come at home.
But you’re right, we haven’t exactly had a huge amount of games yet that fit the criteria of OOC FBS on the road.

Since South Alabama has been FBS:
2018 - 1 game remaining
2017 - none
2016 - Mississippi State (only 1 road OOC game that year bc of LSU/UF)
2015 - SDSU (MWC Champs)
2014 - Kent State
2013 - Tulane

I don't know. I wasn't born yet. And I'm a child of the 60's. Sad.

I remember keeping up with the live stats on that game on CSTV GameTracker. I was ecstatic when StAte won.

Final Massey Composite in parentheses . . .
2008 Memphis(87), 2010 Indiana(85), 2010 Navy(44), 2011 Illinois(59), 2013 Memphis(102), 2015 Toledo(28), 2016 Utah State(101), 2017 SMU(66) were the easiest games.
Utah St was really the only complete choke job.
Close calls were 21-24 loss at top 15 Iowa and 34-36 loss @ Indiana. stAte did beat UCF in their hometown in an off-campus bowl game. Nobody has beaten them since . . .
Utah State was an utter choke job, but I don't know what to call the abomination that was the 2013 Memphis game. I think our old friend TigersDrew still has the scoreboard pic of that game to remind us.

Yes, but because I'm allowed to within the rules, I count our 2016 win over UCF as an OOC road win. It wasn't played at their home stadium, but it was just a few miles from their campus, and 95 percent of the fans were wearing Black and Gold.

Just being technical, it was an OCC road game. I'm not proud of it.
