The St. James
Interesting sports and wellness venture by Tribe CB Kendrick Ashton and fellow alum Craig Dixon, opening this Saturday in Springfield, VA. Been 5 years in development. Wish them well.

It's massive, state of the art, and will be in high demand.

RE: The St. James
Basically, same concept as Chelsea Piers of NYC (which also has a few outposts in the burbs now). I believe Virginia Beach is trying to build something similar.

Conceptually similar, but this is Chelsea Piers on steroids.

It's a few minutes from where I grew up and currently on my way home from work. If I ever decide to be healthy, I'll consider this fine establishment.

RE: The St. James
Would be an interesting venture to do it on a smaller scale next to campus, to include a new natatorium with diving facility, basketball courts, volleyball, indoor track with football/soccer/hockey practice area, and targeted as a joint W&M/Williamsburg community facility in line with our AD's idea about a community shared natatorium. The College could contract for lease terms rather than having to foot the facility cost. Having the College lease agreement might give them the base needed to meet financial operating/ROI, when community/other projected income included.

Add the draw to host youth club volleyball tournaments, large swim meets, etc, and the economic boost to CW, hotels, restaurants and I would think that's a major win for the region, as well as, great exposure for the College with future student/athletes participating in events held there.

RE: The St. James
Too late with this already there. Cant see the burg as busy enough to support two. Again, VB also looking at one, so that would be more desirable for these tourneys.

Although, it is 18 years old now, so maybe could justify it as a replacement of sorts.
