Not good.
No sir. Not really any good news with this one.
1. If it stalls 10 miles further west, before it goes meandering, it slams Wilmington. The eye is over land, and it weakens quickly.
2. If it stalls 10 miles east, it stays over water. Doesn't really weaken, Coastal NC gets a lot of rain before it slams into somewhere between Savannah and Charleston.
3. It does what the model says, and everyone from Charleston north to the Cape has to deal with torrential rains and EF2+ tornado sustained winds for extended amounts of time.
Lets hope it is just a bad model run.
Euro has been saying this for two days but it was the only one doing it. Now a couple of others are starting to look similar to the Eruo.
This is a great site for this kind of stuff and it uses the Eruo model to forecast winds.

Even though this is a return game, I'd be fine with playing this game in Hattiesburg, or maybe Chattanooga or something (if that's possible)
Both App and Southern Miss have a bye on 10/6. If the game is moved, it will likely be to that date.
that's 3 days before our Tuesday game @ stAte
I have no problem with that. Do what you have to do.

With the shift south and continued slowing of the path last night, it seems quite a few schools are prematurely cancelling games. NC State, UNCCH, and ECU (traveling to VT) could all be played. Why not wait until Thursday AM to make these calls?
For App it looks like 10-20 mph winds and 50% chance of shattered showers as Florence doesn't get to Columbia until Sunday.

I think some of the "trigger happiness" is related to advance word of law enforcement resources, usually devoted to game traffic and security, being shifted to hurricane affected areas of the state.

As someone who has been through a forced evacuation, a routine 3 hour drive for me turned into about 8-9 hours. Evacuations are better than a stampede. A very last minute evacuation would get a "lolz" from me while I fly a kite with a key on it, fishing off the dock.

I've been through a contraflow process in Gustav from LA to MS so I've felt that pain.
And I understand the games at the coast, but people in Chapel Hill and Raleigh aren't evacuating. A few hundred players/personnel from ECU traveling to Blacksburg, VA isn't going to be a problem either.
I'm all for being safe, but these decisions were premature and could have waited for 48 hours.

Emergency Management basically tells them you will not have any police and emergency support beyond campus police. Meteorologically they might be able to play. Logistically, they can't

And had they waited to last minute and the storm stayed it’s course to hit those locations, people would be bitching on why was a decision to call the game off not made sooner. It’s a catch 22 and siding on the side of safety should win. College football may be a billion dollar game, but it’s only a game after all.

I wonder what Mohajir would want to move our game back to a Thursday or Saturday to accommodate App playing USM the week before.
I think that's the most ideal situation moving forward.
The problem on our end is that while we'd love to play on a Saturday. We've A: Got Georgia Southern on a Thursday the next week and B: would have to give up an ESPN game to do it.
That's a little more complicated on our end. Not without getting something in return.
