Give Lewis 2 or 3 years to fill out the roster and develop players and Kent will be challenging for the MAC West as long as he's there. The way that staff game planned to shut down one of FCS' top QBs this week was impressive. Baby Brother Newton has been unstoppable in 3 previous games vs FBS teams and Kent just put him in check..
My dream is the program is handed off to Edelman or Cribbs in a few years....or both!

Yeah, good competition has made some things look worse, but they tackle poorly, drop balls, and put too much on a QB who is both an average runner and passer.
This whole Lester experiment has been a huge disaster. He has arguably the best facilities and opportunity in the MAC yet he can't compete, I hope we let him go at the end of the year.

It was a very underwhelming hire to begin with, especially after Fleck.

Yep, but then again, our administration at WMU is underwhelming.

He'll be here at least Year 4.
If we finish 6-6 or worse this year, he'll be on the hotseat for sure (at least in fans perspective)
Tho some fans wanted him gone before he even coached a game........

We won't. Assuming we're 5+ wins. It'll take a long while for him eeking into bowls with the occasional 5W season, to be let go.
We don't have a good D. I think if our D doesn't shore up as the season goes on, he'll fire the current D Coordinator and get a new one.

An approach of kind of "the buck stops ... uhhhmmm ... over there. Yeah, over there at the D coordinator's desk."

Yep. That's the first buck stoppage point. If that doesn't work out, he'll be fired rather swiftly. I'm just being realistic. Our AD is NOT going to fire him so easily.

Honestly, I don't see how that is the consensus.
We have a team that made the Cotton bowl 3 years ago in FB,
Have a top 10 hockey team,
Basketball is down and Hawkins is probably running towards the end of his tenure, but he has had some success in this conference with 2 or 3 MAC championships.
There are a ton of MAC teams that would kill for any of these things. (toledo hasn't won the MAC in basketball in like 40 years, Ohio hasn't won the MAC in football since the 60s,) and most of theses teams don't even have a hockey program let alone one that is expected to make a championship run.

Most teams probably envy the WMU hockey success. It would be nice if Toledo had a team. Minor league hockey helps my fix I suppose. WMU has fine sports teams. One of the leaders in the MAC based on football and hockey success.

RE: 7 things about the MAC we now know
The past few years, I've seen WMU win a CCHA Championship, as well as MAC Championships in football and basketball.
Not sure where this 'WMU likes mediocrity' comes from.
I think definitely we should've sustained some of those championship-level years a bit longer, but we do what we can on a MAC budget, and are usually in the thick of it in all 3 of those sports.

Here we go with this nonsense again.
Your hockey team won a couple CCHA tournament titles. wmu never, ever, ever - in nearly 40 years in the CCHA - won a regular season championship.
How many NCAA tournament games has wmu won in its history?
Top 10 program my arse.

Oh, a CMU fan has something to say about college hockey.
I'm sure we've all been waiting with bated breath for this.

Hockey not Top 10, but in recent years, Top 20 routinely and no signs of slowing, only getting better.
The CCHA titles are more then CMU has.
