RE: Week 1 Power Rankings
1. A-State (+1) - Calm down mother ******* yall win by default and won't be here next week
2. App (+1) - I usually don't factor in margin of victory/loss very often in power rankings, but App jumps Troy for me after yesterday
3. Georgia State (+1)- Best win of week 1
4. ULM (+1)- Better figure out that defense or learn to score 70 points a game
5. Louisiana (+1)- 2nd best win of week 1
6. Troy (-5)- Expect to see Troy skyrocket back up the rankings, but that was a discouraging loss to a probably really good team
7. Georgia Southern (+1) - Easy win against bad team
8. South Alabama (-1) - Almost a quality win. Almost doesn't count.
9. Coastal (-) - Lost big to a good team as expected
10. Texas State (-) - Lost to a so-so team worse than expected

Trust me, we are calm. Well, maybe frustrated and disappointed is more to the point. How we can roll up that kind of yardage and look like a high school team doing it is beyond me. 'Bama will score 60 on us if they want. I can't even begin to judge this bunch until the week after that game.

2. App State - I remember when South beat Miss State I got criticized for not having them #1, but I was right to not be knee-jerk. Not ready to put App #1 quite yet.
3. Louisiana -SWAC is not a good FCS conference, but to beat a top FCS team like they did is actually kind of impressive.
4. Troy - If they had kept it somewhat closer they'd still be #3, but that was just...ouch.
5. South - Came up short against a La Tech team that should be one of the top teams in CUSA.
6. Georgia State - beat a good FCS team, could be dangerous later down the road, not there yet.
7. Georgia Southern - See #6
8. ULM - see #6 and #7
9. Coastal - over Texas State because they are better offensively.
10. Texas State
I think that's a fair point. We don't really know how good Penn State will be. Each week brings a different scenario. Our performance Saturday guarantees nothing going forward. If Thomas continues to perform thusly, then I like who we are. But you can't judge a season on one game, especially the opener.
Yeah, last year we narrowly missed taking Nebraska to overtime, and we thought this could be a really good team, but then we found out that Nebraska just really sucked.

It's tough to judge Penn State but they, like Michigan in 2007, were replacing 9 starters on defense.

Week 1 Power Rankings
I actually think this year’s App squad is the best all-around since we joined FBS. That’s going off one game but still. Also I think don’t judge Troy too harshly I think this league is weak this year quite frankly and Troy/App State could decide the division and anything could happen. I think Arkansas State will win the other division.

Fire that coach good Lord. Have an Army friend that is a TXST grad and he and I both agree there is ZERO reason why any TX school should be at the bottom of any level of football.
He has to be fired as soon as he hits 7 losses.

You would think so. But seeing he had the top APR in the conference and that seems to be most important to our President and AD, I won't see him getting the boot. Maybe next year. The school is too cheap to buy out of more than one year of a contract.

What does the conference APR have to do with anything? Either you have a good APR or you don't, has more to do with the academic support staff than the guy calling plays. Who says the another coach cant have good APR as well or better?

I am just saying that all the AD cares about is a coach that keeps that up and no scandals. The only coach that ever got fired fast did neither of those. In San Marcos poor results keep you around way too long and there is no pressure from fans like GS had to get rid of a coach before it is due.
Even after Fran went 3-9 and offered to step down, the AD asked him to take two weeks to reconsider. He was given a chance to get rid of a coach and didn't take him up on it and then when Fran did leave, it pushed the coaching hire and recruiting back. TXST won't get good or great until the AD is gone. Period.
