Tyler Johnston ended the night averaging 12 yards per run and 35 yards per pass attempt. That’ll do.

UAB 52, Savannah State-0. Blazers equal highest point total from last year. First shutout since 2008. 7th straight home win. Good way to start the season

Good win, tough to watch that first qtr, run d didn't look that good but I hope it's due to vanilla play calls. Pass d looked good & kept pressure on their qbs all night

RE: Gamethread: Savannah St.
I cannot remember a worse quarter under Bill Clark for poor play and bonehead mistakes than the first quarter of this game. They got it fixed pretty fast though.

The team did exactly what they were supposed to do. They buried an overmatched opponent that we were supposed to beat. The pedal stayed to the floor and they took care of business.

I was very impressed with Tyler Johnston.

Vogel is a hell of a weapon. You get the ball on the 25. You don't get a chance to return it.

You have a better chance of catching the ball if you're on the camera crew behind the end zone. The one were he hit the camera tripod went 80+ years in the air

He may be nearing Bruce Baker status. Only a better player in his sport.

Hard to say how much though, because everyone except him quit when they heard the whistle. I don't think it cost them a touchdown on the return.

They can call delay of game when you run with ball 70 yards after the play is blown dead.

RE: Gamethread: Savannah St.
i watch the first half game on espn Plus
I was disappointed of the backup rb
The smaller back transfer from Ole Miss is not the same caliber of Brown
How was the back up qb and the rb transfer from Michigan
tks

Vincent probably went very conservative for most of the game.

Johnston at backup QB ran things very well. Kingston looks to be good also.

We ran pretty much straight forward in our running plays.

I didn't pay attention to any of the pregame scouting reports on Savannah State because it's Savannah State. Were we expecting them to run that much read option?

I thought it was interesting that when Kingston Davis scored his touchdown they called him Spencer Brown for about 3 minutes on the broadcast.

I didn't either, but they run a true, designed, two QB system. Their running QB broke for several solid gains. That may have been part of it.
