Savannah State
I'm rather fascinated by Savannah State's athletics program. I actually don't know all that much about their football program specifically, but they're rather new to the div1 level. During the four year transition, things were extremely rough. I think their men's basketball game was 7-79 in that stretch, and had one season where they went completely winless. They ended up joining the MEAC Conference, and I'm not going to overstate it and say they've torn it up, but they certainly haven't sucked it up either. They have one first place finish in men's basketball, they were in the race for first place a season ago, they've won a softball championship and been to an NCAA Tournament, and are the only div1 program in the city of Savannah.
Last year it was announced that they were reclassifying to div2 after the 2018-2019 year. It's remarkable that they nearly finished in first place in men's basketball after making that announcement. From what I can gather (which is admittedly extremely limited, but take it for what it's worth), no one with ties to athletics was/is all that happy about it. Some have indicated that they're basically being bullied into it by the state. The stated reasons, from what I can tell, are utter nonsense. All and all, going to div2 does not help save money, nor does it help grow enrollment.
That's just nonsense.
I never post here. I barely even read this board. I just wanted to share this. I guess I just thought that being bullied into something that you didn't want to do for reasons that were nonsensical may sound a little familiar.

RE: Savannah State
I seem to remember Savannah St always being in the ESPN Bottom 10 every week with an amazing losing streak. It was always them, or Prairie View A&M.
