Maybe. It should be but the weight assigned to the factors could make that huge or just a ripple.

definitely. And a team that it would have destroyed is St Bonaventure. They would have missed the tourney- and in their place would be a team like a Notre Dame.

Unless the new metric ends up being pretty close to the RPI, you figure there's gotta be some coaches frustrated that they scheduled games with RPI in mind only to have it thrown out. What if an expected Quad 1 game falls to 2 or even 3 based on the new metric? Obviously that works the other way but if you schedule in a way to goose your numbers that now aren't relevant, well, that's a spear to the Spaldings.

Well, if a team scheduled a game to game the RPI- so a team from a smaller conference who has a great record but isn't that good- they deserve what they get.

Is this actually going to decrease the percentage of actual P5 teams in the tourney?

Figured there was a motive behind NET given the lack of transparency. Guess we’ll see.

One might think that with weighting on where and margin that some non-majors could benefit with majors willing to travel. Good for AAC, A10, and MWC perhaps?

Winning big on the road should now count for something. Beating the tar out of junk teams while never leaving your home court not so much...

Still think it just rewards majors all the more while punishing the non-majors further. A way to squeeze out those like URI last year, who got as high as top 5 RPI but having very little in terms of top tier wins.

UCSB plays at Washington and at Wyoming ooc, not easy road games whatsoever. If they win both of those, it might make for an interesting test case. Our schedule overall is soft so we need gaudy numbers.
