Other Fall Sports 2018
After dropping a 2-1 heart breaker on Thursday at home to Dayton, our women's soccer team just notched their first win of the season against Maryland, 3-0. They will play at Villanova on Wednesday.

Men's Soccer, Field Hockey and Volleyball all start their regular seasons on Friday.

Sadly Dayton. nor UMD were very good last year.

I do not think I have seen players as open in the middle of the opposing box as I saw for our last two goals. It was absolutely incredible.

Don't forget to check Madizone this weekend as three sports open their seasons - volleyball (three matches), field hockey, and men's soccer. Women's soccer is back in action next Thursday with video against Penn State.

RE: Other Fall Sports 2018
Really painful loss for Dukes MSoc vs Air Force. 0-0 after regulation, Dukes missed a great opportunity early in the 1st OT (NCAA soccer OT is sudden death or "golden goal"). AF awarded a PK later in 1st OT but they missed it (pretty badly), plus a red card on the Dukes on the same play. With about a minute left in 2nd OT, AF scores the winner. NCAA soccer only does 2OT then it's a draw, so the Dukes were a minute away from getting out with a draw which would've been a decent result especially being a man down for the 2nd OT. Like I said, painful

Both soccer teams had a tough loss this week. WSOC outplayed St. Joe's, but ended up losing 2-1 earlier on Sunday.

Unfortunately, WSOC fell to Penn State 3-0 in a game delayed by weather at the start. The ref was calling a very tight game, and if it would have been male professionals playing, there would have been a lot of frustrated words and exaggerated gesticulations. The ladies are 1-4, but I suspect will continue to improve this season under a new coach implementing a new scheme.

RE: Other Fall Sports 2018
Volleyball has two games today in San Marcos, TX. Currently, the Good Gals lead Incarnate Word 2 sets to 0. The ladies will then take on Texas State at 730 tonight.

For those looking for Madizone based coverage, you can watch JMU FH take on American at 6 pm. MSOC will play at CSU-Fullerton at 8 pm. That game will be broadcast on BigWest.tv

UPDATE: VB beats Incarnate Word in straights sets, 15-21-19.

Dukes with the 3-0 win over Drexel in MSoc. The Dragons came in 4-0-1 on the season this looks like a pretty solid result, great job Dukes!

So much defense at JMU!

Hannah McShea (WSOC) got her second straight CAA Defensive PotW award after her fourth straight shoutout. M'Kaela White (VB) was named CAA Defensive PotW for the first time in her career! Congrats, ladies!

Hoping they go further than last year. They won the CAA regular season outright, but lost in the first playoff game. The team is looking good attacking, and the backline is doing a good job of recovering and keeping danger out of the center of the box. Big road trip coming up for the Dukes, though. UNCW is ranked #14 and NC State is ranked #12. We have lost twice, both in OT. If we win these next two? The sky is the limit for MSOC

FWIW, NC State match will be streamed live via ACC Network Extra.

Is ACC Network available through ESPN+? It's so hard to keep track of these things. If it is, I might keep ESPN+ for another month.

To the best of my understanding, ACC Network Extra is the equivalent of ESPN3 from an access standpoint. I think as long as you can get access to ESPN3 content, you also get ACC Network Extra. Maybe that'll change when their linear ACC Network launches in 2019.

SEC Network+ is only available if you have the SEC Network in your TV package. ESPN+ is its own subscription service separate from all of them.

I'm personally keeping my ESPN+ subscription through the CFB season, as I watch enough other games to justify the cost. Outside of football season, that $5/month may feel like a waste to me. We'll see. Some of their original shows are worth watching too.

It has been part of ESPN3, which you can see at WatchESPN or the ESPN app.

Don’t believe they moved this to ESPN+ , though not 100% sure since some ESPN3 content did move over.
