RE: Talking AAC bowls
How great is it that we are already "halfway home" (to Bowl Eligibility)?
Such a nice problem to have wondering what Bowls are "Less Preferable" than others...

That's the oldest...and most demonstrably FALSE...rumor in the short history of this conference. The Liberty Bowl has no real affection for Memphis; they actually have gone out of their way to avoid the possibility of Memphis playing in the bowl.
People keep floating the idea that the Liberty Bowl (the game, not the stadium) has some soft-spot for Memphis and there is nothing to indicate that there is anything to it. I could point out that Bowl Games are set up to bring people INTO a city and stay in hotels (which would argue against the Liberty Bowl wanting Memphis), I could point out that the Liberty Bowl ran screaming from the AAC after Memphis was added to the roster and was willing to take a sketchy contract with the lower echelons of both the Big XII and SEC rather than a high contract with the AAC, I could point out that the whole "Fred Ex" thing hasn't brought a single dollar to the conference (though he has improved the stadium at least), but the myth survives.
I think the Liberty would take a UC or UCF over a home Memphis in a heartbeat.
Wow! You're so wrong it's crazy. The only reason that the Liberty bowl was associated with Cusa in the first place was to to make a way to get Memphis in their game. Unfortunately we were to terrible to earn it. Even last season the Liberty bowl had to do some serious negotiations to get Memphis in their game due to a clause in the contract, but they were only going to exercise it if Memphis lost the CCG. On your other point what Bowl game with any kind of business sense was going to turn down a chance to get a guaranteed matchup between the SEC vs the BIG12? (The gold standard for a bowl trying to survive and move up in the bowl packing order) .on top of that the SEC was only willing to enter into a deal with the Liberty bowl if it had a p5 matchup. FedEx was more than willing to pay the money pledged to Memphis if Memphis had received a BCS/p5 invitation and the offer actually still stands. Unfortunately the big east disentigrated and the big12 lied. Point being is that you don't have to be a DA**n liar or disparage the Tigers to root for your team. I hope you guys can get the Liberty bowl if at all possible and you earn it. Glad to see you guys on the way back up GO BEARCATS! ,,,,,On a side note there was talk earlier this summer that the American was negotiating a tie in for our champ or 2nd team in the Liberty bowl but as you all know for some reason all of the bowl negotiations have stalled for now and gone silent, but you'd better believe that Memphis being in the AAC is carrying a lot of weight in that decision.

ThE WoRlD iS yOuRs MeMpHiS. Jerry's point stands. I am quite sure the out of town money is better for Memphis, and the Liberty bowl has never wanted Memphis in it's bowl.

RE: Talking AAC bowls
Well, daggum... I honestly didn't realize that our conference no longer has tie-ins to the Liberty Bowl. I guess I haven't really followed bowl games much the past few years. I'd love another bid to the Liberty Bowl, Memphis is an awesome place to visit for a fan of music and BBQ.
