Fingers crossed....

Land Quinones, Archiuwa, and Watford? Are you kidding me? As good as I think UH is going to be next year, I would have to pick Memphis to win the conference. That would be a legit top 5 team, IMO. Man, that would be something.

Where do you have Houston next year? Not a prediction regarding the AAC standings but as far as the team itself.

Losing:
Corey Davis Jr.
Galen Robinson Jr.
Breaon Brady

Bringing in (as of now)

Caleb Mills
J'Wan Roberts
Marcus Sasser

Warm/warmer with the following.

Pierre Crockrell Jr.
Dimon Carrigan

Do you think you sign either of these two and how do you see recruiting finishing out?

Houston being good again is nostalgic and I like that Sampson is there. Really good for the conference considering Houston is one of the biggest brands.

Edit: Didn't include recruit rankings for anyone who nit picks. Coaches like Sampson and Marshall recruit to a system and win with their players especially when given time to develop for the long term. With Brooks, Jarreau and Hinton their the guards will have time to develop regardless of their current rankings and will not be expected to be freshmen phenoms.

As things stand, I have them finishing first or second in conference and a top 20 team. Will get interesting if we bring in a grad transfer like Daniel Utomi to be our sixth man. But if Memphis lands all those guys, I push Cincy and Houston back one. Regardless, UH, Cincy, and Memphis will be the top 3 next season.

If we land a grad transfer like Daniel Utomi then we’ll be as good next year as we were this year.

Just saw you said not a standings prediction. Our starting 5 should be extremely good. Jarreau, Brooks, Hinton, White, and Gorham. Kelvin Sampson says Caleb Mills is the best scorer he has recruited since being at UH. That’s frightening to think about since he recruited Rob Gray. He also said Antoine Davis was the best shooter he had recruited while at UH. Davis broke Steph Curry’s freshman record for most threes in a season this year. So I’ll take coach at his word. Cedrick Alley should continue to get better. We’ll also have Chris Harris and Brison Gresham back. We’re going to be very good.

i kow you called me crazy earlier for saying houston would be a tourney team next year...but everyone in the houston program thinks we are going to be better next year

Sampson openly says our backups are probably more talented than our starters..but at this current time in their development he trust his seniors more

also as far as recruiting, we have 2 free scholarships but we havent offered a 2019 recruit in 7months, we've been done with recruiting this class a long time ago

sampson has stated he loves what next years roster looks like...

our last 2 ships will almost certainly be used on a transfer who has to sit out..and/or a grad transfer or reclassification that we'd be foolish to pass on

Not crazy. Biased. It wasn't regarding making the tournament it was more along the lines of you saying you would be better than this season and that Memphis "may" be an NCAA team "if" we added Watford to what we already had coming in and back. I argued Memphis "should" be a tourney team regardless unless something goes wrong. (Injuries, locker room crap, etc..) It was annoying that after we have a top 30 class, Penny proves he's got some coaching ability and we are looking at a top 5-6 class that you consistently downplayed what Memphis should be.

you definitely said not a tournament team, ( i quoted that comment in different debate about peoples expectation for houston next yer)

but its not a big deal either way

and as your current roster stand (not landing anyone else) i definitely question if memphis can make the tournament (and it had nothing to do with penny)..legitimately 29% from 3 tyler harris will be the only person in your top 8 players that can shoot the ball that is a recipe for disaster (even if you added watford)

but if you got back a few pages in this thread, when the lester rumor started , i was the first to back track and said if you landed him you have to be seen as tourney team (he can shoot the ball)

I'm personally not worried about it. Outside of Martin we improve drastically at every single position. The returnees will be improved as well. Biggest jump is generally from FR to SO season. You give Hinton that respect but expect nothing out of Jones, Harris and Lomax?

Boyce and Thomas have been working all year as well.

We get quality depth. Upgrades across the board and so on. Next season should be fun.

Tigers defer Myrtle Beach Invitational games until 2020. Tulane replaces the Memphis.

Penny obviously has some other games in mind for the dates.

Or maybe a conference play to up Tulanes schedule strength? Next year will be a big one for hoops. Everyone needs to have a decent schedule to max out bids and seeds.

Kudos to "k2tigers" (Post #14) for finding this gem....

https://basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/...f-the-year

One game that is sure to be circled on the calendar is the Kentucky game, and Wiseman said both he and D.J. Jeffries are looking forward to that matchup.

"That game is going to be fun. It's going to be high energy, a great battle with good players and both D.J. and I can't wait," Wiseman said. "We're definitely looking forward to that game for sure.

The comment perhaps is related to the Tigers pulling out to the Myrtle Beach Invitational.

Eh. It's more important for a bottom team to start with a good record against subpar teams than go 3-9 against good ones.

This program has a confidence problem.

Tulane loses F Samir Sehic, who will go professional in Europe. I would expect to see no more than 3 familiar faces on next season's roster - we're likely to see a total roster clearout.

Tulane went 4-27 last season. You have to blow the whole thing up after a historically awful season.

How many Naismith winners coach in the AAC? This would be pretty sweet for him to win!

Other than Marshall I dont think we have any others.

Would be very cool. And if they go on the run i have them going on it would be well deserved!

That smoke sure started up when this news was announced. I did the class calculator on 247 adding Precious & Quinones and it moves us slightly ahead of AZ for the #1 class. Doubt we get him, but it sure sounds like we are in good shape w/ LQ.

Quninones, Tyler and a grad transfer like..... IDK, maybe Nathan Hoover from Wofford (05-stirthepot) would give us some outside shooting that would let Wiseman run wild inside.
