I can agree, but as far as mascots, do you mean in general or actual. Like, in UNA we are the Lions, but we also have 2 LIVE African Lions on campus that travel to home football games.

You and me both. For as much as Liberty likes to do things first class and with excellence, you’d think we would have a live eagle mascot already.... one that flies into the stadium on gameday too.

Nothing at all, and you are right, EKU has a nice clean traditional logo. It’s all just a matter of opinion and personal preference.

It's an interesting time with the logo at EKU. Even though it's still currently the center piece of the basketball court itself, the "Colonel Head" logo is being phased out in favor of exclusively using the stylized "E" and "EKU" logos. There are a couple of things going on here:

1. There has been a suggesting by some that the very idea of the "Old South" Kentucky Colonel hearkens back to the antebellum mentality that included slavery. For that reason, some favor dropping the name altogether. I don't personally buy that there is a direct connection, but I'm not on this forum to get political. Rather, I just wanted to communicate the nature of the debate going on. I do think it worth noting that The Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels exists to recognize distinguished Kentuckians of all demographic categories. No less a social justice force than Muhammad Ali accepted the honor.

2. However, what I think is more reasonable is the notion that if indeed the choice of the Colonel mascot is to choose an ideal to which all Kentuckians should aspire, then maybe using symbols more universal than what is obviously and specifically and old white man makes sense. For that reason, I reluctantly understand phasing out the "Colonel Head" logo itself while retaining the name (even though I thought it was a cool logo!).

I'd drop JSU's logo to the bottom of the list, at least, if you're talking about the head-on logo with the Gamecock flying at you feet first.

I mean, on one hand, it's a really cool, aggressive logo. But it's busy as hell and gets completely washed out at smaller sizes (or viewed from a distance), becoming little more than a red blur. That's pretty much the opposite of what you want in a logo.

I do like JSU's classic profile Gamecock. But that's no longer the official athletics logo, so it doesn't count.

The other part of the official logo which really sucks is the bubble font used in the wordmarks. It's straight out of the 1990s. Not only is it dated, but much like the head-on rooster, it becomes a red smudge at a distance. It's awful.

As for the sideline mascot, I'm not a huge fan of the current incarnation of the Cocky costume, but I have to give major props to that bird. If nothing else he's got personality. I'd put him in my Top 5 on that point alone.

And I can't leave this post without addressing this...

I really liked the old time Colonel mascot (not so much the updated Colonel head) and logo. I wish they weren’t getting rid if it.
I’m not a fan of the “E.” I think the underscored “EKU” is pretty good.
