Democrats have become what they despise
https://www.realclearpolitics.com/articl...37769.html

"Earlier this week, Candace Owens, a young black conservative, was shouted out of a restaurant by a white crowd screaming obscenities and racial epithets at her and her dining companion, Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk (who is white). The police had to be called, and the mob shouted obnoxious slurs at the officers as well. Owens tweeted: "To be clear: ANTIFA, an all-white fascist organization, just grew violent and attacked an all-black and Hispanic police force.

"Because I, a BLACK woman, was eating breakfast.

"Is this the civil rights era all over again?"

It is. And many Democrats are on the wrong side...."

"To their credit, many Democrats and other liberals and progressives see the ugly irony and have spoken out against the violence, harassment and abandonment of traditional Democratic values. But it's an open question whether those saner, sober voices will carry the day. (And apparently, there is even doubt among Democrats, part of what is fueling the #WalkAway movement.)

The violence has been limited -- and overwhelmingly on one side. But there are plenty of people -- and I am one of them -- sounding the warning: It will not stay like this indefinitely."

If this continues, it will trigger some of the nuts on the right. And Democratic politicians will have to face what they are encouraging. And we could get more things like the Scalise shooting and nuts on both sides become more unhinged.

Its a shame we have so few adults in DC and so many Harry Reid types.

RE: Democrats have become what they despise
Liberalism is no longer politics, it’s religion. A nasty, hateful, dangerous religion.

Pretty accurate description.

We are always ahead of the curve. Most of this has been said here.

RE: Democrats have become what they despise
So this is where republicans should be reaching out to the poor and minority communities with a message to end the welfare plantation. Are they? No, apparently because they have no idea how to do it.

Are some republicans? Yes. Do they have good ideas? Some of them. But is this being adopted by the party as a whole? No.

What does it do to the political calculus if 10% of the currently democratic portion of the black, brown, and poor vote moved to republican? What if even 5%?

For many years now I've said that politics is the liberal's religion and why so many of them become completely unhinged over topics that could, and should, be discussed openly and honestly. But they just can't bring themselves to do it.

What's the plan you think they should reach out with that would appeal to these groups? I think that both sides have failed on this for years, the left with welfare programs that in many ways incentivize not working and not keeping families together and the right for the drug war that has jailed millions, broken up families, and made those people basically unemployable with a felony conviction.

Plenty do, especially Black Conservatives. They are called coons, and Uncle Toms.

I think the elements of a plan are there:

1) End the war on drugs. Legalize or decriminalize. It's coming, and first party to embrace it is going to gain some political advantage. It's consistent with maximum individual liberty, and it has worked well when tried, so although new, it passes the conservative tests.

2) Welfare reform to something based on a subsistence-level guaranteed minimum income, like Milton Friedman's negative income tax or the Boortz-Linder prebate/prefund. Farm the current focused and means-tested programs out to the states and private charities. The welfare fraudsters will hate it, but those who would be upwardly mobile will love it--and that's your target voters.

3) Really push enterprise zones and some of the other things Jack Kemp pushed to bring free enterprise to the inner cities.

4) Reform education. Not throw money at it, but fix the processes. Make it so that any bright inner-city kid can get an education that prepares him/her for Harvard--or to be a mechanic or hairdresser or CAD/CAM terminal driver, depending on what he/she wants.

It should not be hard to beat, "Keep 'em dumb, keep 'em poor, keep 'em dependent on handouts, and you'll keep 'em voting democrat." But somehow republicans fail at it.

GOP doesn't recruit based on minority status, or ethnic group, or income class.

RE: Democrats have become what they despise
They see Candace, a strong, young, positive, HIGH ENERGY, intelligent, beautiful black woman going out and making REAL change among the youth, and waking the African-American community up to the scam the dems are running on them.

Then they look at the hateful, divisive, morally objectionable people doing that work on their side. No wonder they're PISSED.
