TBT 2005 GS vs TXST
Oh man what a game. I drove down from Dallas the day after Thanksgiving. One the best memories I have of watching the Bobcats. Nealy was the most dynamic player I have watched in maroon and gold.

I knew the of a lot of the backlash this game caused for GS. I did not know the drama with Russell.

That game sent our program into a tailspin. We fell into our dark years after that season, a hole we wouldn't climb out of until 2010.

I've got advanced stats for this game too: https://gatadb.com/game/312/advanced/

Check out this win expectancy chart...

Not so fun fact: this is the only game in our history where we held an 18+ point lead and lost. (35-16 with 1:14 left in the 3rd)

At least GS recovered. That was a flash in the pan for TXST.

Got our coach fired, I wish it had gotten the AD fired as well.

Just a note, the stuff with Rusty happened at the end of the 2003 season. Erk disavowed the program pretty much immediately after those shenanigans and only returned right before his death.

In fact he addressed the team the day before he died I believe.

After the 2011 season. They had to get the new T&F complex finished first.

I thought the decision to fire Sewak for anything short of a Natty was made earlier in the season at an incident at Wofford?

We went to the game but I set my VCR for this. I still had the tape for this until a BCR tailgate back in 2011. I lent it to someone (Justin) and never got it back. Until then I would make DVD copies for folks if they asked. I was left with only 1 DVD of the 1st half. Yes, I'm still bitter that it was never returned to me.

Teddy Craft's last football game before tragically passing away in a motorcycle accident the next summer.

Between losing Teddy and Erk, then how things just fell apart all throughout 2006 with how incendiary the HC was, 2006 was a really low time for us.

I find it fascinating that we ended up in the same conference. Having got obsessed with FCS football as I need, it was exciting when App St and GS were added. Back when we were in the WAC there were rumors of adding Montana to try and keep the conference alive. That was exciting too but they ultimately said no.

Man if they would have jumped NDSU would have likely followed by now, Idaho would still be FBS and has a lot more support. Might have ended being a solid conference.
