I thought his tweet said he was transferring if he won appeal for extra year of eligibility. He’s graduated. KSU has no hold over him.

Earl Blake (Linganore, MD) at 125. He’s a 2x state champ ranked #16 at his weight. He was the NHSCA Junior runner up and a Fargo Junior AA.

James Limongi (Genoa) at 165. He’s a 1x state champ and 2x placer. He’s also ranked #16 at his weight class.

Avry Mutschler (Lowell, MI) at 149. He has finished in the top-four all three years (4th, 3rd, 2nd). He was 8th at Flonationals and 7th at the Junior Folkstyle Nationals. He’s ranked as the 8th best prospect in Michigan's 2019 class. Perhaps we stole one from CMU?

Jacob Sherman (Olentangy) at 125. He placed 4th in 2018.

Chris Langguth (Rootstown) at 184. Placed 6th as a sophomore and 3rd as a junior. He was a NHSCA Freshman AA.

Here’s an update for our recruits’ senior year performances:

Blake won his 3rd Maryland championship. He will be at 125/133 for KSU.

Limongi won his 2nd Ohio title in DIII. He will be at 165 for KSU.

Mutschler won a Michigan title at 140.

Sherman lost his opening match and I didn’t see where he placed.

Langguth finished 4th.

Gould from PA finished 3rd in 2019. He’s a 3x place winner and projects at 133/141. Flowrestling has him ranked at 8th in the country at his weight class. He’s our highest regarded recruit since Ian Miller.

Ryan Neu from Wisconsin will be at 165/174 for us. He is a 4x place winner, including 1st and 3rd.
Lambert58, thanks for the updates. I see that Andrassy/staff have an 8th recruit, Xavier Torres from Wauseon OH and is projected at 165lbs/174lbs.

Looks like Jacob Sherman placed 4th at states in 2018 and he lost his 1st match and then won 2 and lost. His record was 14-1, so I assume he was injured or sick to miss a lot matches.

Pretty good class all and all.

Next years lineup, which should be significantly better than this years;
125lbs - Ferri
133lbs - Rooney
141lbs - Ciotti, Yackee, Simpson, or Gould
149lbs - Komara or Mutschler
157lbs - Monico
165lbs - Chrisman (13-10 in his redshirt year), Limongi, or Neu
174lbs - Barreiro or McNally if he decides to drop down
184lbs - McNally or Wallace (17-4 in his redshirt year, if McNally decides to drop down)
197lbs - McCracken, (16-8 in his redshirt year) or Bast
HWT - Berthold or Cover (13-11 in his redshirt year)

Torres placed 6th as a junior and 2nd as a senior. Sherman was injured most of the year. I like our depth at the upper weights. Hopefully, McCracken, McNally, Barreiro and Wallace can all contribute. One (or more) needs to change weight class.

RE: Wrestling 2018-2019
KSU Wrestling recruiting class 2019 updated through mid-May:
Earl Blake (Linganore, MD) at 125lbs
Jacob Sherman (Olentangy, OH) 125lbs
Patrick Gould (East Stroudsburg South, PA) 141/149lbs
Avry Mutschler (Lowell, MI) 149lbs/157lbs
James Limongi (Genoa, OH) 165lbs
Xavier Torres (Wauseon, OH) 165lbs
Naeem Russell (Lima, OH) 165lbs/174lbs
Ryan Neu (Dodgeland, WI) 174lbs
Chris Langguth (Rootstown, OH) 184lbs
Ryan Boyle (Rootstown, OH) 197lbs

Looks like a pretty strong recruiting class by Andrassy/staff.

**For what its worth, Kyle Conel's Twitter feed still shows pictures of him at the top with Kent State Wrestling and shows his place as Ashtabula OH. It doesn't show retweets or posts regarding Penn State, but does show he just did a wrestling workout a few days ago.

Possibly next years lineup:

Here’s some good wrestling news!

Let’s see if he can keep the streak going!

I have a friend “in the know” regarding Penn State wrestling and they have Conel listed 3rd on their depth chart for 197.

He finishes third in the country in 2018 and transfers to a school where he is third on the depth chart. Something doesn’t compute.

They’re pretty crowded at the upper weights and preference is given to those that are already on the roster. However, Kyle did beat Shakur 1-0 at the Clarion Open 2 seasons ago and I’ve also heard that he was tossing around some of the PSU youngsters during a visit.
