There's a poster here that has said they wish the left had something like a Fox News because all the media is against them.

Quote:New York City Mayor, Bill de Blasio, told interviewers that the United States of America would be a “more unified country” without Fox News.

De Blasio told The Guardian's Ben Jacobs that Fox News founder, Rupert Murdoch, is entirely responsible for President Donald Trump taking office.

The mayor directly pointed to Murdoch's company, News Corp, the parent company to many media outlets including the Wall Street Journal and Fox.

“If you could remove News Corp from the last 25 years of American history, we would be in an entirely different place,” said de Blasio.

De Blasio specifically condemned Murdoch's companies for adding to the conversation and causing division between Americans.

“[Without News Corp] we would be a more unified country. We would not be suffering a lot of the negativity and divisiveness we’re going through right now,” said de Blasio. "I can’t ignore that.”

Some conservatives found this statement to be bold, especially coming from a man who strikes division so often. De Blasio has unnecessarily added to division many times.

For example, in 2016, de Blasio picked a war against Chick-Fil-A because their owner is a Christian who believes in traditional marriage.

The New York City mayor ignored the fact that Chick-Fil-A provided hundreds of free meals to the victims and first responders of the Pulse Nightclub shooting and said he wouldn't support them opening a restaurant in the city.

“I’m certainly not going to patronize them,” said de Blasio of Chick-Fil-A, “and I wouldn’t urge any other New Yorker to patronize them.”

De Blasio also poured fuel on fire burning between law enforcement and people they protect by “running an anti-police campaign,” according to a former New York City police commissioner.

After two officers were murdered in their squad cars, many cops expressed their frustration with the mayor. During the funeral for slain Officer Miosotis Familia, many cops literally turned their backs on the mayor.

Although many have attacked Trump for his criticisms of the media, de Blasio seems to have a pass, so long as he only criticizes the media he doesn't like.

He is probably correct. It’s also equally correct to say we would be more united if Fox News was our only news source. Basically—what he is saying is our Liberal BS propaganda on the lying biased lefty “news” would be far more effective if acid wasn’t around to refute the lies.

He's absolutely right.

If that pesky Fox News didn't exist then people would only get the story, news, and opinions HE wants you to get.

Other opinions and ideas are unacceptable and MUST be purged from the American stream of consciousness.

How else can we create a society of lemmings and drones who will do what they're told and believe what we tell them.

I'm on a week's vacation with the family in deep red country (Florida Panhandle, then drove up through Alabama to Nashville for a few days). Holy Cow, I have never seen so much Fox News in all my life. Everywhere I turn (hotels, restaurants, even gas stations), Fox News is on the TV. You get some Weather Channel, and some ESPN too as a viewing option, but basically it's those three channels in the public areas at least.

Democrats are going to be in trouble unless they can convince the tourist industry (don't think we can do anything about the gas stations) to cut the cord.

That's the left's mistake. Most people aren't as stupid as the media thinks they are.

CNN is on at all the airports. I don't think many pay attention to them anymore.

If Jim Accost us had his way, Fox would be declared an enemy of the State.
And that is the Pools position. Cracks me up when some smo says he doesn’t “just watch one channel”.

RE: De Blasiode Blasio Thinks America Would Be ‘More Unified’ Without Fox News
deBlasio basically wants a Ministry of Truth and group think. How Orwellian.

AN article written in 2013 sought to compare modern media to the media in Orwell's 1984...the similarities between our real world and Orwells fictional world are down right scary...

"In Orwell’s novel, the Ministry of Truth was responsible for disseminating propaganda to the people of Oceania. Its purpose was to spin the facts and make them fit the Party line. In the case of blatant contradictions, its job was to literally rewrite history. Only those “truths” that would further the cause of the Party were allowed to emanate from the ministry.

Another purpose of the Ministry of Truth was to keep the public constantly stirred up against the threat of an outside enemy in order to justify the Party’s more inhuman policies.

One day their enemy would be Eurasia; the next day it was Eastasia. With a constant wartime footing, Big Brother could justify his heavy-handed tactics against the people of Oceania.

To further reinforce the loyalty of the people, the Ministry of Truth would broadcast a daily “two minutes hate.” This served to inflame emotions into frenzied hatred toward the regime’s enemies and adoration of party ideals. Worshipful images of the military and Big Brother were incorporated into each broadcast. Their purpose was to lead the viewer to one inescapable conclusion: the party was their sole source of salvation.

By the end of the two minutes hate, the people were emotionally and physically spent and thoroughly brainwashed. To dissent was to commit thought-crime and invite charges of treason. The only safety was found in groupthink."
