This year I go to Starkville and Tuscaloosa. I've been to both, but that was in the '80s and I know this will be a very different experience.

My favorite is Tennessee. Watching the Volunteer Navy arrive on game day is one of the best traditions in college sports.

My two favorites in all leagues would have to be Texas A&M and Nebraska. The traditions at Kyle Field are unparalleled in college football. And you will find no friendlier people in America than a game weekend in Lincoln, Nebraska.

Agree with Nebraska for sure. As far as Tennessee its not really that whoopie of a stadium. The outside atmosphere is good as you have said. The nicest stadium I have been to is Legionaires field in Birmingham. The ambiance and spectacular environment nestled in the mountains with the beach right next door......umhhm I am sorry I got hit on the head and lost my senses for a moment. What I meant to say is that it is the absolute worst stadium in a America. If there is a worse one for area and blah we could start a thread on that. However, when talking about the good ones I just could not help but think of number 2,986 on the list.

RE: Football Road Trips
South Carolina in September is terrible, don’t sit on the east side.

My experience best to worst:

Michigan - fans were surprisingly inviting
Auburn
Wake - it was while I was in school so likely biased there
LSU
Clemson
Florida
NCSU
South Carolina

Hoping Penn St is the best yet.

RE: Football Road Trips
For P5 Football Games, I have only made the trip to Sanford Stadium at UGA. I started that game in the 600 level, and somehow drunkenly made it to the 50 yard line 3 rows back. Still don't know how I got there. I have also randomly gone tailgating at Clemson for a College Gameday Broadcast. I didn't go to the game though.

Will be attending Carolina-Coastal this year though

P5 stadiums I've been too:
  • Oregon - Amazing stadium. Not the biggest but one of the loudest. Fans very friendly.
  • Tennessee - Older stadium but sitting in a sea of 105k people was awesome. Very classy with their band playing our fight song, etc. Didn't like how there was no real tailgating close or parking.
  • Auburn - Do not sit on the bottom 3 rows. Those dang hedges block your view. Cool stadium and lots of tailgating. Fans were not bad.
  • Vanderbilt - Not impressed with their stadium. I actually like our stadium better. I do love the city of Nashville though.
  • Penn State - Stadium looked very huge and old from the outside. The inside was nicer. Nice people in the middle of nowhere PA.

RE: Football Road Trips
Best to worst:

Michigan x2 (surprisingly nice, hospitable fans, even the second time, stadium takes your breath away)
Clemson (top notch experience/atmosphere/hospitality)
LSU (best home field advantage in the nation, wish we hadn't played at 10:00 AM)
Georgia x2
Florida
NC State (cocky fans for no good reason)
Tennessee (see NC State, but likely even cockier in 2016 as they were preseason top 10)

RE: Football Road Trips
Of the SEC stadiums I've been to Auburn, Georgia & Florida are on top. LSU, Tenn & So Carolina are a notch below and Vandy is a spectator friendly place.u In the ACC Clemson & VA Tech are outstanding. NC State (minus the fans) and Wake Forest are great places to watch a game. Haven't been to Duke since they took out the track and I just don't like the sightlines at unc-ch. I actually like GA Tech's place and Boston College is a nice place although some people have an issue with the metal construction. Once you get past the history Michigan & Ohio State and ND are nothing really special. But that history means a lot! I actually like Maryland's place and am really looking forward to Penn State. One place I really, really like is Utah. The setting makes that place special.

As to SEC have been to LSU, Arkansas, MSU, Florida, Georgia, Tennessee and South Carolina. To rate them may have something to do with our outcome but I would say in descending order SouthCarolina, Arkansas, MSU, Florida, Georgia, LSU and Tennessee. I am sure others would rate them differently but the first three I liked the lay outs and fan access to the Stadiums a little better.

Is S Carolina / Columbia worth a trip? Since Troy is scheduled to play there in 2020, could be interesting.
Not a lot to do in Columbia, although they do have a really nice zoo if you're taking the family. If you make the trip look up the Rockaway Athletic Club. Locally owned (USC grads) bar & grill this joint isn't marked at all, but you can find it online. If you like pimento cheese burgers this is the place for you. The onion rings are killer too!
