Interesting that Walter only ran a 4.54 in the 40. And he was one of our fastest guys last year...

Two things:
1. Field Turf is a slow surface; slower than Astro Turf.
2. The 40 yard dash was hand timed not laser. He ran a 4.49 laser time at the combine workouts.

Yeah, but still. When your fastest guy runs a 4.5...

(Unless I'm getting my Walters mixed)

Cam Montgomery is faster than both the Walter brothers.

That said, Austin used to be faster but I think he lost some speed as he added bulk.

From what I’ve seen of Rice Football over the past few years, there are many problems. Austin Walter’s speed is not one of them. (Neither is Aston’s.)

4.49 at a combine is very, very fast. Players with slower times get drafted in middle rounds, and occasionally in the first round, even at “speed” positions.

I’m not sure what position he would play in the NFL and don’t know if he’ll be drafted, but he was a really good college player.

Eagles sign Sendejo

Interesting that the Eagles ultimately signed both roommates--James Casey and Andrew Sendejo. They were freshmen roommates at Lovett. I wonder how many other times that happened, where the same team signed both college roommates (albeit not at the same time)?

Sendejo was at Wiess. Did he start out at Lovett and switch or are you thinking of someone else maybe?

So that prompts a thought: Who are the top 10 fastest players on the football team?
(In no particular order)
1. Cam Montgomery
2. Juma Otoviano
3. Andrew Bird
4.
5.
6.
7.
8.
9.
10.

This is great. Hadn't he already transitioned into coaching or scouting?
