You clearly don't understand . . . stAte is loaded squared . . .

Check out our WR. A lot of them in the bowl game with NT. And are back this year. You know the game we scored 50+?

I know we doubled Troy in yards and choked in our game last year. No way in HELL Troy WRs can touch stAte's. Book it.

Choked = loss to Troy..... 2 loss SBC team..... 7-5 season. But those WR man were the best this nation has seen!

BTW if anyone choked it was Troy by after having nearly a 3 Score lead allowed you to retake the lead...

AND YOU STILL LOST even after that 03-lmfao

RE: Units Of Your Team You're Most Excited About
Yeah, I'm most excited about the QB this season for a couple of reasons.

1. Like x noted, our line should be improved, which should mean the QB will have less hassle when he's throwing.
2. Like Bobcat2013 noted, we have some talent at WR, and the QB able to get that to them should be exciting to watch.
3. Right now it's pretty close to an unknown. Could be a soph, a Redshirt freshman, or a true freshman. We just don't know at this point, so the unknown makes it intriguing to me.

What part about doubling your yards don't you understand? stAte choked - Troy won - but we both know which team is more talented/athletic. Don't make me go get SeminoleIndian!

We sure do. And it ain’t stAte lol

And it sure ain’t your coaches. I’m
Predicting 8-4 for stAte

2 SBC losses and a shocking 2-2 OOC record

Ya'll were 122nd in red zone offense, we were #1 by a mile. That's not chocking, that's being straight trash. You can only choke if you're actually good.

You Troy boys are VERY lucky you don't play stAte this year. You'd get the living **** beaten out of you if you did.

RE: Units Of Your Team You're Most Excited About
All this debating about whose wide receivers are better between Arkansas State and Troy had me curious about how receivers fared against USA last year. Since some teams throw it quite a bit more than others I decided to use average yards per attempt and average yards per completion to draw comparisons. Here is how they fared against USA:

Average yards per attempt:
GS 13.4
ULM 7.8
NMSU 7.4
Louisiana 7.3
Idaho 7.0
ASU 6.6
GSU 6.3
Troy 5.7

Average yards per completion:
GS 20.6
Louisiana 13.8
ULM 12.8
Idaho 11.9
GSU 11.5
NMSU 11.3
Troy 10.8
ASU 10.7

Are other teams not able to make an argument for having the best receiving corps? 05-stirthepot

For Troy

Defensive Line - Maybe the most talented part of the team. 1st Team ALL SBC pass rusher (Bandit position) returns in Hunter Reese. Highly talented Zo Bridges (0.8451) backs him up. On the other side at defensive end we have Ole Miss Transfer Rasool Clemons (0.8715) and his back up is Kelvin Lucky (0.8498). In the middle at DT is 1st Team All SBC Trevon Sanders. Several other guys have experience on the defensive line. We have a 1st team linebacker in Tron Folson as well, so the front 6 should be rockin'.

Return Game - This is insane. We have an All-American returner in Marcus Jones from last year, another All-American returner in Jabir Frye who sat out last year but took several to the house in 2016, and we have Louisville transfer Treveon Samuel who returned kicks there and had a 100 yard return vs Clemson.

Did Rasool Clemons ever actually enroll at Ole Miss? As I remember, he didn't qualify academically, went to East Mississippi CC, recommitted to Ole Miss and then they eventually dropped him, which is when Troy scooped him up.

USA's defensive line should be pretty stout again this year with Tyree Turner (preseason 2nd team all-conference) returning at an interior spot along with Sean Brown and Jeffery Whatley. Junior college DT Jordan Beaton is crazy strong and will help there too. Defensive end is veteran Sean Grayer and Missouri transfer Rocel McWilliams while Bandit will be Riley Cole, who was really good at linebacker as a redshirt freshman. As a recruit Cole was committed to Alabama but when they asked him to take a grayshirt he decided to come to USA instead.

I'm not sure, but here are his high school and JUCO offers:

https://247sports.com/Recruitment/Rasool...Interests/
https://247sports.com/Recruitment/Rasool...Interests/

Lots of top name programs with offers. Not as many after JUCO though, but some solid names. 6-6 240 on 247, 6-5 250 on the official roster. All signs point to him being eligible. He and Lucky should be pretty good on the edge to compliment the 1st Team All-SBC guys at Bandit and DT.

I'm sure he's eligible. My point is that he's not an Ole Miss transfer, like was said in the OP. Looks like he played as a freshman at EMCC where he had eight tackles with 1.5 sacks in nine games, redshirted the following year with an injury and then played for Troy last year, but it looks like he only got in one game. Was he still recovering from the injury?

I honestly don't have a lot of knowledge on it. I remember him being crutches last season. Very possibly he got a medical redshirt for last season if he did play. We'll see what he's made of this year. Lucky is also really highly regarded so I doubt we'll see any kind of drop off at that position.

awesome post. without a doubt, the receiver groups is the strongest in the Sun Belt this year. there is talent and experience literally everywhere. who has the best among us is a by product of who has the best O-line/QB combination.

I know for me, our Receiver and running back groups im really excited about.

Our WR are good, but we have the best RB corps in the conference. We might have two 1000 yard rushers with Trey Ragas and Elijah Mitchell.
