Wow is this a bad non conference home schedule.

NAIA school, a D3 that has NEVER had a winning season in last 30 years. Alcorn, savannah, Norfolk all in bottom 3 conferences of all D1.

Wright State and Albany ok but when those are the highlight games in your non-conference that says a lot.

Here is where “tiered” pricing makes great sense. All non conference home games feature $5 general admission tickets and everything else is BOGO.

That is one yawner of a slate.

It’s a very MAC-like home schedule for sure.

Not a very good home schedule. Despite the fact that the team did have a great second-half of the season the year before last, I still sense an overall race to mediocrity with the men's basketball program. In fact, I have a bet going with a friend and fellow alumnus that both the women's basketball team and the football team will win a MAC East title before the men's basketball team wins another.

Outside of the anomaly of the one Ore. St. game last year, I don’t see much difference in this year’s home schedule and the ones from the last decade. Not as good as the year Temple, Drexel, Valpo, and Princeton came in, but certainly better than a couple of years ago when YSU was the highlight.

We could play regional teams like Dayton or other A-10 teams like Duquesne, URI, George Mason or any of them really. Mix in Marshall, Rice, or a Conference USA team or 2 and the schedule is much more attractive with potential better wins. It doesn't have to be so ugly. The one factor none of us know is if any of those schools will actually play us and schedule a home and home. Seems likely, but who knows.

Look around ... not many A-10 teams playing home-home w/any MAC teams. Look at Dambrot's schedule at Duquesne ... A few M-Valley teams starting to come around for h-h, but not many.

MAC teams should play 4-5 home games. Rest road-neutral.

Seems like once Laing left so did a lot of the A10 games. Maybe just a coincidence can’t be sure.

RE: 2018-19 Basketball Schedule Released
Scheduling is difficult. There is no doubt that many teams duck, dive, dip, duck and dodge coming to the MAC Center or similar venues. Also, while Drexel and Loyola (see BG) may look great one year we all know how that can go the next year.

But on the other hand, if this is the flagship program you need to provide the fans with more of a reason to attend.

RE: 2018-19 Basketball Schedule Released
Scheduling isn't easy, but to say other mid-major programs won't come to Kent is just straight bull****. While most of the MAC non-conference schedules are not out yet, Miami has Army and Evansville going to Oxford. Toledo has Middle Tennessee St, Cornell, Detroit and Penn coming to Savage Arena. Not that those are big games, but they aren't Alcorn, Savannah, and Norfolk.

Bottom line is the premise that nobody will come to the MAC center is hogwash.

Well, Detroit is also on our home schedule. Albany is a good add. Three NCAA appearances in the last five years. Some duds as well. It’s a typical MAC schedule. Toledo has a good home schedule this year, but they have no-name schools on it as well.

Just an FYI, as an experienced parent of young children...they won't know how to work a calendar until they're 6 or 7. If you happen to celebrate her birthday a few days early or a few days late, she won't notice.

RE: 2018-19 Basketball Schedule Released
Looking at where Sagarin had them ranked at the end of last season...

at Louisville 39th out of 351
at Vanderbilt 85
at Oregon State 109

Wright State 125
Albany 149
Liberty 212

Savannah State 299
at Cleveland State 300
Norfolk State 301
at Detroit Mercy 325
Alcorn State 336 out of 351
Shawnee State n/a
Oberlin College n/a

We need to win all of the seven from Savannah State on down (but we'll lose at least one). We need to play the top 3 road games tough, but any wins there would be gravy. It's the 3 in the middle that'll show us where we really rank. We ended up 190th in Sagarin last year, and 2 wins out of these 3 should show that we've improved

And no Mississippi Valley State University this year? Did they finally get a home court?
