What are your qualifications to judge if these games should be for kids?

Non-violent games fall under this. Shoot them up games like Doom and this and Mortal Combat are not for kids.

I was raised playing Mario Brothers, Donkey Kong, Pac-Man, and games like that on Atari and when I was out of high school, I got my Nintendo system and got Tecmo Super Bowl, Tecmo Baseball, Mario Brothers, Donkey Kong, Legend of Zelda and less violent games. One of my favorite games were the Dragon Warrior series and Gemfire.

lol, one of those is not like the other two. I don't allow my kid to play any blood and guts shooting up game; however, Fortnite is nothing like those other two games. Heck, half the game he's either riding around in a golf cart with buddies or dancing like an idiot. I do strictly watch who he is playing online with as he's not allowed to play with anyone I don't know.

Fortnite is if Minecraft released a version of Call of Duty, basically. Read the reviews - kids are getting all excited about scoring a perfect headshot with machine guns, handguns, etc. While you can do other things, the point is to kill other people in it. It's not appropriate for younger kids.

FWIW, if your kid plays Roblox, be aware of that one as well. I started to let my almost 9 year old play it, and then realized that there are parts of it that are in no way okay for ANY kid, no matter the age:

Fortnite is the only online game I let my kid play. I don't mind it since there is no blood, etc. I also explained to him that it's just a game, and that not like real life at all, at least when it comes to guns, etc. He gets it. I also only let him get the Battle Pass and don't allow him to make any other random in game purchases, etc. For the most part I'm watching him while he plays and also place limits on playing time. Really no different than me back in the day playing Metal Gear, etc.
