Football Is Upon Us: Ranking the West
Hey everybody! Fall camp starts in just a few days! So I figured it was time to wake this board up with a little preseason rankings of the American West Division. The media has us dead last, but we all know how that goes.

As for me, I really can't decide how things are going to shake out. There is so much parity this year. So I thought I'd ask everyone else how you think our division will finish, and I'll try and come up with my own rankings later.

You're welcome to rank the East division or rank the conference overall as well. I don't care! Hit me with it!

RE: Football Is Upon Us: Ranking the West
I think I've decided how I believe the West will breakdown.

1a Houston
1b Navy
3 Memphis
4 Tulsa
4Tulane
6 SMU

This division is close. Teams could move up or down a couple of spots pretty easily. But I thin UH or Navy have the best shot at winning.

I think UM's new QB situation hurts them. And SMU having a new coach holds them back.

My blue and gold glasses want to put TU higher of course, which they have the potential to do so, but until they prove they've improved, tied for 4th with Tulane is all they get.

Every team except Memphis, and maybe SMU should improve this year.

Good work stirring the pot over on the main board, friend. In case you haven’t noticed, we’re quite the hated bunch around here and we don’t need any help with that.

Hmm. Not sure what to think about that.

West:
Houston 12-0 Talent rich, under the radar for ooc

Memphis 10-2 Consitantly good losses to UCF and Houston

Navy 10-3 Beat the Irish and Army, losses are UCF, Houston, and Memphis

Tulsa 6-6 Back and forth year get one vs Arkansas or Texas, I hope Texas.

Tulane 5-7 bowl team anyway on apr and Tulane takes another step to respectability.

SMU 2-10 Tough schedule and a weak defense make for a great show from Dykes offense but not a lot of wins.

East:
UCF 12-0 They're a beast and keep moving with Heupel

USF 10-2 Strong continues to build a good program like Memphis they don't quite get over the hump losses to Houston and UCF

Temple 8-4 The QB play is the difference and Temple is a tough team but not quite there yet

Cincinnati 8-4 The schedule is tough but not extreme. UCLA will struggle early at times and have turn overs as players get in sync and experience in chips offense. Cincy is in perfect place to upset.

UConn 6-6 The return of respectability gets the Huskies in a bowl

ECU 3-9 Montgomery fired? It's a tough schedule but 5-7 is probably needed to save his job.

Houston beats UCF in championship game.
