RE: We have a new center
The timing on this is perfect. It would be nearly impossible to sign a three star freshman big this year given the bigs we already have. He's described as a raw talent so learn and watch for a year. I have no idea what his potential is but this coaching staff has a great track record with transfers and the kid did average 14 points, 14 rebounds and two blocks in a Detroit high school.

Pretty much what NUGUY said. This kid has potential and we have had great success with transfers. Looking forward to hm playing here.

RE: We have a new center
Watched Youtube replays of the Purdue and Michigan games. Combined he went seven for eight from the field. All were around the basket but not all we're dunks and a couple were with his off hand. Runs the floor really well and looked comfortable against Big Ten talent. Didn't rebound that well but that conference is full of trees.
Also spent some time on the Illinois basketball message board. My impression is that they liked him. They all called him Spicy G. Everyone saw him as a lost asset who showed flashes of good things to come. There was none of that "he was over his head in our conference" or "he was a mistake" that you sometimes see when guys transfer out.

You’re spot on with this.

Yeah from what I've read from Illinois fans is that he's not a natural on offense or defense but has a ton of raw athleticism. To me that honestly sounds like he was a freshman who can grow into a monster one day.

RE: We have a new center
So this is what what we will have in 2019-20.
Soph. C Greg Eboigbodin
Jr. F Tomas Murphy
Jr. F Jason Strong
Soph. F Shaquille Walters
Sr. F Max Boursiquot
Sr. G Red Gresham
Sr. G Bolden Brace
Sr. G Shawn Occeus
Jr. G Myles Franklin
Sr. G Jordan Roland
This is where losing Derrick Cook sucks. We’ll need to get a PG soon.
But getting guards typically isn’t a problem for us.

Along with next year's freshmen class ....when, after losing two starters, we'll be a more attractive place to land.
One last Greg fact. He didn't start playing basketball until was a freshman in high school when he immigrated from Nigeria. So, he went from zero to being a three star recruit getting offers from Illinois and Pitt in just four years.

RE: We have a new center
We have Ebo, Murphy and Shaq to play together for 2 years. Ebo and Shaq are 3-Star recruits and Murph is a 4-Star.
That’s potentially some front court!

RE: We have a new center
So.....do we still have two open spots on the roster going into this fall? Another transfer?
PS. Can we split one of those scholarships in half to give to Shaq and Greg?

No.
We have 13 scholarship players for this season.
