Should be a nice addition for the conference.
I was flabbergasted when I first read that line about USL having a presence in Statesboro ro (until I discovered Tormenta is debuting in the USL Division III!) regardless looks like a nice facility!

Quote:In its first season of existence, the club was one of the highest-drawing teams in the nation. That, along with a winning season, earned Tormenta recognition as the PDL’s ‘New Franchise of the Year’. And in 2017, the squad followed things up with another winning campaign and some behind-the-scenes efforts that nearly won the franchise the overall honors for the PDL.

Football is the crown jewel for Astate (duh so is majority of everybody else lol). Once our NEZ project gets completed by the beginning of the season, I think we'll be neck in neck with Texas State's and Troy's football stadiums.
One thing I was not able to highlight with the arena pics is the fact that the majority of the athletic administration, coaches and RED WOLF Foundation offices are located inside the arena as well (Terry has been very vocal about the fact that people are literally on top of each other at the moment) and despite athletics "creative" ways of utilizing the space at the current football complex, its also inadequate for the current needs. Once the new complex is open (still aiming for early 2019 completion date last I heard), I'm very excited to see how they'll utilize the old office spaces in the arena as well as the old complex.
I didn't realize how awesome are players locker rooms were until I began gathering these pics to show y'all (particularly basketball and bowling-WOW!)
Without a doubt, our sore eye is baseball. For a league that's current claim to national prominence and competitiveness is baseball, it's simply embarrassing to have the facilities we do. Fingers crossed Terry will follow up with his public claims and this will be addressed once football projects are fully complete.
Also disappointing to see the inadequate facilities utilized by both rugby and softball--granted, both are only at "club" levels and not fully sanctioned university sports but they have been without a doubt the most successful athletic group representing the Red Wolves.
Truth be told, don't keep up with collegiate track, soccer and tennis so I'd hate to give a full on critique-I have been told that university officials at Astate absolutely HATE the current soccer configuration (constant fear of players falling and injuring themselves on the track surrounding the soccer field) and I think i'm not the only Red Wolf on here that'll tell you where all these fields and complexes are located it is a PAIN to get to (they all border railroad tracks that run right along the campus' south edge) and University planners didn't really do a great job of keeping access to the fields easy (Not to mention there's virtually no parking). However, from what I've seen from other universities throughout the state, I'd say Astate's facilities are on par if not a little bit better looking than UALR's, UCA's, UAPB's etc.
When the current construction is done, the Red Wolves will have the best FB facilities (at least until someone else goes on a spree!) in the conference. This includes the IPF that is the best in the league. Building a façade on the east side is about the only thing that would improve the stadium but ripping up all of those trees is not ideal.
Basketball is at least average.
Baseball need a lot of upgrades and we need to add softball.

Every bar in Atlanta has an Atlanta United flag behind it. I can't explain it, it spread like wildfire. I'll see people in ATL United stuff even here across the state in Savannah. Soccer does very well in Georgia for whatever reason.

Huge international presence here.
Fun fact: Georgia has one of the highest population of British people in the county.
Georgia has seen tramendious growth over 30 years. From around 6 million 30 years ago to nearly 11 million today.
People come here from all around the world. And the ones who move from other states typically have a football, baseball team etc they support. Now that soccer is so big here it’s a team these people can get behind for Atlanta.

Reality is, many schools are putting real money into facilities, or at least, have a plan in place.
I've already done my piece on the baseball stadiums in the league. I'm going to do one on basketball after I pay close attention to my visits around the league this year.
I don't go to Mobile or Troy, but I don't have to as I am pretty familiar with both of those places.

RE: Who has the Best Athletic Facilities in the SBC?
Our baseball facility will get a few nice upgrades this year:
"The current 14-by-26 feet video boards at Bobcat Stadium will transition to the baseball and softball facilities, providing significant upgrades at both parks. Both facilities will also now feature new Field Turf Classic HD 2' artificial turf that is slated to be installed in the coming months. The baseball mound and softball infield will remain dirt, but the rest of the playing surfaces will be turfed. Inlaid Texas State logos and mow lanes are also included in the design.
Both home dugouts are being renovated and expanded, making more room for staff and student-athletes. Restrooms will also now be available at each visitor's dugout. New masonry walls, provided by Acme Brick, will wrap the perimeter of each field adding to the new look of Bobcat Ballpark. The right field line at baseball will now be closer and separate the visitor's bullpen from the field of play, providing an improved fan experience."

Very interested in the masonry wall perimeter, hoping it's all the way down the foul line. Also, like that they are keeping a dirt infield on the softball field.
