Kaper-punk hijacked the anthem and made into an issue and not DJT or the vast majority of American citizens!
Kaepernick was only noticed in the 3rd preseason game, he did it for the first two also and no one noticed. The TV cameras didn't pick up the protest in game three, some reporter tweeted out a photo of him sitting and that's how this started. So unsure he started it for "his PERSONAL gain and notoriety and opinion".
However, he did run for it when the issue took off like a bandit.
College teams stay in the locker room for the anthem
I don't believe for one minute that the only guy to kneel among 60,000 when EVERYONE else was standing didn't do it for self promotion and attention. Do you realize how many "causes" or "injustices" players could kneel down for? He is the only one to initiate this to my knowledge. Someone will have to verify but I believe this started around the time it was clear he was not going to be the starting QB in San Francisco.

In those first two games, Kapernick wasnt even dressed out. He was completely butthurt that he got benched the year before, and it was clear that the other guy was getting the reps in practice as if the other guy was the starter.
Only a complete numbnut would think Kapernick was sitting as a protect to those oppressed. That would be the stupidest protest ever, as not to tell anyone why you are protesting, or that you are even protesting. He came up with the excuse after he was questioned after the third game. And a whole bunch of numbnuts fell for his excuse.

There is no constitutional 1st amendment rights in the workplace in regards to free speech or expression. The 1st amendment is about the government limiting free speech. An employer has a perfect right to set rules of conduct in the work place and set penalties for breaking said rules. This is NOT a first amendment issue. This is a contract issue between employer and employee.
I have no problem with an owner allowing these protests. The team is HIS property and HE gets to make the rules. Conversely...I support any owner that bans such protest on the same grounds. My problem is that the players somehow think this stuff is a constitutional right and the mindless dummies that support them in this also believe it. BOTH are wrong.
...and YES Paul...Trump should have STFU. This was pretty much over until he decided to tweet on it again. I have a feeling that he is now just trolling the NFL.

Nothing says "oppressed" like a bunch of millionaires crying about the "conditions" in the country while kneeling for the anthem of the country that has given them the opportunity to be millionaires for playing a game.
Aaron Katersky ABC said NFL players are indentured servants.

For me, I don't really care if Jameis Winston was boorish to an Uber driver as long as he stands for the playing of the National Anthem. (And I still think the woman in this case is trying to use him as an ATM)
Except Winston has a history of that behavior stretching back to high school. And Tallahassee police did a cover job for him at F.S.U.

Yea but, that was just that one time. Oh and that other time. And that other time. But no more. Honest. Except that one other time.
Sigh...
Should have kept Doug Williams all those years ago.....cause they still haven't been able to draft a long term franchise QB.
I still want Winston to get his act together though. He has a unique skill set if he can just grow up.
He makes me want to support him though. Until I don't. And then, if he loses even me, then he's REALLY screwed.
That said, best to start scouting QB's for 2019 and 2020 just in case. If only McKenzie Milton were a few inches taller...
EDIT: Loved Vinny T. but he was saddled with a coach best suited for college and an ownership that didn't care about winning, Trent Dilfer got happy feet and seemed afraid to throw the ball, and Josh Freeman drank his career away in Ybor City.
