Which leftist schmuck was on here a week or so ago crying about someone in his family's soybean farm?

Here's what I said exactly. Sure doesn't sound like 'crying' to me.

"My wife's father has 40 acres of soy beans just sitting in the county storage bin because soy prices are at a 10-year low. He has the wherewithal to wait it out but some other farmers may not be in the same shape financially. I hope for his sake that we win the trade war, but for now it appears that China isn't buying our soy products."

Soy prices have rebounded in the last week a bit so that's good for my father-in-law. But they're still not even close to their spring levels. China is still a much bigger market for US soy farmers than the EU (and Bloomberg has a story from earlier today that said the EU was going to start buying more US soy anyway just because Brazil is selling most of their soy to China). I don't think soy prices will get to their price points of the past unless China is buying soy again.

I'm fine by the way with Trump's deal today. I've never been one to harp on the Mueller stuff and could care less about that. This is probably only the 2nd or 3rd thing Trump has done in 2 years than I appreciate.

If you got back a few weeks I stated that we (the US) have the cards. They need us more than we need them. Only problem with this is that we as Americans have the "giveittomenowsyndrome". We don't know how to and don't like to wait.

To Fort Bend, I leave this here. #Walkaway

Oh wow...they are morons. Pompeo is killing it. He is making the low iq dems look like fools.

So much winning it's hard to follow it all at once. I look forward to a pompeo thread because he is just making them look like children. It's almost not fair.

I hope he runs for President one day.

Loved seeing Pompeo own Chris Murphy (Dim-CT).

RE: Looks like EU and U.S. will work out differences over trade
1. Trump called an end to the post WWII rebuilding of Europe perks.
2. Trump threatened to place tariffs on the EU.
3. Trump had a friendly meeting with Putin putting teeth in the idea that NATO might not continue to be predominantly paid for by the US.
4. Trump won in getting the EU to the bargaining table because of steps 1-3.

It's called setting the stage and playing the room. That's what a business man does. A Politician looks for the stage and smoozes the room. There's your difference.

5. If Trump gets the trade deal he wants China will be forced to the table.

That's called knowing which card to lead to force the hand you really want to call. Politicians go for the biggest splash first and miss the opportunity to take both pots.

Donald's bluster is just a technique for keeping his counterparts guessing and keeping them off their game.

He's just more savvy in dealing hard with people than anyone who is afraid of criticism in the press, which again would be your average politician. Like that loser of a putz Ryan.

I'll take shrewd and rude over polite with fright anytime anywhere.

ALL of the soybeans around here are still @3 months away from being harvested. We have 300 acres still growing and they look lovely.

I was curios about this as well. Assuming his relatives are in TX, their harvest is the same time as ours here in NC. So if he still has 40 acres worth (@ 40 bu. per acre 2017 average in 2017) is 1600 bushels a very small amount to have held. Nov 17 price was roughly 10 cent higher than now. I can understand holding given the almost $2/bu jump earlier in the year - it's a gamble we have taken before as well, though usually we put a contract in much earlier in the year.

We have lost about 100 acres of beans this year due to heavy rains after planting on two occasions. We will be lucky to get 20bu/acre on what came up.
