Israel shoots down Syrian fighter near Golan Heights
Quote:Israel says it has shot down a Syrian warplane which entered its airspace - a rare incident between the two foes.

Two surface-to-air missiles were fired at the Sukhoi fighter jet, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) tweeted.

According to Israeli reports, it happened over the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights. The pilot's fate is not clear.

Syrian news agency Sana said Israel had targeted the jet over Syrian airspace, but did not say whether it was hit.

Sana quoted an unnamed military source as saying the plane was conducting raids against "armed terrorist groups" near the southern Yarmouk Valley.

Syria routinely describes rebel groups as terrorists.

They are now saying that the pilot was killed.

RE: Israel shoots down Syrian fighter near Golan Heights
Israel is one of the most powerful nations in the world now. Not only because of her relationship with America; but research, innovation, technology and a host of other things have made it a very stable and strong military power. They spend all of their military technology and training SPECIFCIALLY on defending the Holy Land, not to fighting in distant lands or continents around the globe.

Considering Israel is one of the smallest nations in the world it is probably the STINGEST pound for pound in 2018.

Israel vs Syria would be like David and Goliath in reverse. Israel vs most Muslim powers is a mismatch. A few could have a strong, sustained war but thats about it.

No Muslim country could overthrow her.

It would take a larger world power allied with some regional powers to really bring her down.

That is exactly what the Bible predicted would happen right before and at the 2nd coming.

Turkey and a few other Muslim groups/nations as well.

Russia as the head.

It probably was targeted while over Syrian airspace, while it headed right for Israeli airspace. But I bet it was hit over Israeli airspace.

1.25 miles.

At 800 miles per hour that's too close.

That's why the Bible states that Russia and Turkey will be involved in Armageddon...along with Iran and perhaps Syria.

No doubt about it

Israel has returned after being totally destroyed 2000 years ago, set up by GENTILE nations (the UN) and grown into a world power and the center of middle east politics.

Everything has happened just as the Bible predicted 2500+ years ago.

And people still claim there is no proof the bible is real 01-wingedeagle01-wingedeagle

Have heard that Gog and Magog are properly translated as Turkey and Iran. Russia will not be against Israel in the Last Days, but both Turkey and Iran have people groups that are associated with Russia.

Turkey is really upset that the State or Israel is now just called by law Israel. That’s a Bible Prophecy too, but Ergodan calls it naziism.

I've heard that from a few people too but it really makes no sense at all to suggest Russia is not the price of Rosh as mentioned in Ezekiel.

If Gog and Magog were Turkey, then who in the world would Tomagrah and Gomer be? Tomagrah and Gomer, in particular, are easily proven to be Turkey through historical records. If I'm not mistaken, the great wall of China actually translates into the "Wall of Magog".

Also, the text says He comes from the far northern parts, not a very good description of Turkey at all and the Bible is typically much more specific and accurate than that. Turkey is called "Asian Minor" in the bible and is written of extensively in the OT and NT, and is never really described as a far away land or nation, but a regional nation/land. One of the first places the church spread from Israel was into Asian Minor. Also, Gog is described as a nation/people from far away that does not come against Israel until the last days. Turkey itself owned Israel for many centuries under the Ottoman Empire.

The case for Russia is way stronger. I can give a lot of links and info if anyone would like to read up on that. When we look at it from a modern perspective it looks even more obvious.

Also, the Ezekiel prophecy makes clear its not a religious based war, but a war based on booty and other goods. Israel has recently discovered massive amounts of natural gas and oil in the Holy land and just off the coast, and Russia badly needs access to middle eastern gas and oil.

Turkey plus several Muslim nations would be a religious based war. The text in Ezekiel tells us exactly what the invaders are after and the core reasons for the invasion.
