You’re welcome, Sun Belt. You’re welcome.
For those of you (which is most of you) who think we will be dead last in the league this year, you don’t understand the impact this man has on the program.
I firmly believe what we saw last year had some to do with the step up in competition, but it had much more to do with the absence of Joe.
You’re going to see a much better Coastal football program this year.
Wasn't Chadwell thrown into the role of head coach literally months before the season started because of Moglia's health issues? Chadwell was a good head coach at CSU, just didn't seem like he had enough time to get ready for that role.
I also heard the team is much more experienced this year. I think you guys will be the most improved team in the SBC, alongside ULM, South, and GS.
Yea on all accounts. No offense to Chadwell, and yes, he was put in a tough spot all of the sudden, but the truth is he was in way over his head and it showed.
This is not easy but brownie points for GSU's head coach when being referred to being a "small school"....it is "50,000" with a bunch of distant satellite campuses absorbed from a commuter community college but even without the satellite campuses it was not a small school. I hate that term with a passion. Vanderbilt is a "big" school but UCF is a "small" school? I get what they mean but it is annoying as hell.

He said on one hand, it's very difficult to have a schedule alliance games like that in football, but did say "time heals all wounds" and the relationship with CUSA is very positive (and mentioned the basketball alliance with CUSA) He also mentioned there needs to be certain teams from the two leagues playing each other every year (Troy and UAB, Southern Miss and South Al, Louisiana Tech and both Louisiana and ULM) and despite his attempts at making them happen, there's only so much he can do.
KK then shifted to the second question and said as of now, the league has ZERO interest in expansion talks or adding any additional members
Yeah, it sucks for anyone who wants to move in now in FBS ANYWHERE. The prevailing attitude is "we good".
Didn’t he say no expansion consideration for the next 2 seasons?

I didn't hear that, but I did hear him say there hasn't been any expansion consideration for the past 2 years. Maybe that was what you are thinking?

Agreed. I like how Shawn Elliott shut that down pretty quick

For those who are interested, Shawn's clip happens at the 1:26:18 mark.
Slick move by Coach there, I thought he answered that perfectly.

I feel like it took a good bit of self control for him to not drop an "F Bomb" in that response lol

Coaches should not have to defend their schools reputation on a media day for football when the broadcasters are being paid by the conference. Expected better from the guys that have been around the conference awhile.

Yeah it had the air of "if one more %¿&$ says it, the tie comes off.
In other news GSU LT Hunter Atkinson is 42 years old as in fully grown man.

Agree on part. But we have a long way to go. I get that we are not the SEC or ACC but the drop-off in media attention from those schools should not be to zero for other FBS schools in the same states. The brand of football is good enough and there are enough stories that player interviews at Media Day should go a bit deeper than asking where do you like to eat or what video games are you playing.
First question Satterfield gets (think it was a guy from Monroe newspaper) wasn't about the team, expectations for upcoming season or individual players, but what do SB coaches have to do to be considered for higher profile jobs. Beginning to think these guys have no idea what this event is about.

Same guy asked one of our players if we played ULM last year, and when our player said no but we play them this season, the guy asked if the game was at GS or ULM. Like???

It's a slap in the face. He's basically asking if they think the Conference sucks so bad that it's holding the good coaches back from getting offers from higher profile schools.

The implications being "well I obviously ticked someone off to end up in this room talking Div II football so what are YOU in for?"
And again there are enough preseason stories in this league that the questions should be better. We have a QB battle coming up and our LT is being questioned about eating at El Sombrero and does Atlanta have good Chinese Food.
