So Steele leaked his dossier to the media in part to level the playing field because he thought Comey's announcement on HRC's email on Wieners computer in late October would hurt her chances.

Would that not show clear bias on his part that should cast a reasonable doubt on his previous work and help discredit the dossier?

The fact that Steele made it clear to an FBI contact that he hated Trump and would do most anything possible to keep him from being president was enough to cast a reasonable doubt on his work on the dossier. That, and lying to the FBI as well about not having contacted the media with the story.

Even though in the final days of the campaign the overwhelming view was that Cankles would be the new president, it still looks like there was a frenzy of activity trying to find something to derail Trump's candidacy. Once that failed, they obviously shifted into, let's hamstring this bastard and maybe get him impeached and removed from office using what they already had generated.
