Gotta like what the coaching staff is doing to promote brotherhood on this team, climbing Pikes Peak. Will it equate to W's, I don't know but Creighton promises a great experience at EMU and he is delivering. I respect that!

I really like what CC does.

He is big on values, teamwork, bonding, etc. etc.

My guess is that his teams have great character and the fact the team did not fold while losing all of those close games last year suggest what this team is made of. Lot of teams would have folded.

My guess is that the team overachieves. The point E'Tough and others have indicated that with an increase in talent that this team could do great things.

Talent + character = Winner

I really like the tradition they started of voting in which receiver gets to wear #2. I think that’s the best thing they can do to honor D. Reed. I’m very interested to see who will get to wear the jersey this year.

CC does this annually with his seniors.

I like when coaches can do things like this and the bowl game in the Bahamas 03-cloud9

I completely agree with you that about the great experience at EMU. For these kids it is the best years of their lives, being a student-athlete and all that comes with it.

This year the team gets to play a game in So. Cal vs. San Diego State.

Going O/T for a minute, but the Howard FB team went to Las Vegas last year and upset UNLV. They brought their band with them. Great experience for that program and school.

And I like the opportunity the MBB team had a couple years ago to go to the Bahamas in August for their trip.

They also had games last year in Florida, California, etc. as well as their run in the MAC tourney which is always a highlight for basketball players (kind of like the opening round of playoffs in pro sports).

Sometimes I swear if we wanted to be great in FB, MAC should expand and 'Eastern Michigan' should move to the "MAC East."

If we were in the East this year, we could be say #2 in the East.

Yep but that's not going to happen so we have to find a way to win the west. No team scares me in the west anyway: 1) We blew a 17 point lead over NIU in the second half and had a missed fg. 2) we had WMU beaten if Kilby didn't make a boneheaded needless clip. 3) We played Toledo tough on the road last year and this season they're at our place.

EMU has a decent chance to win the west if we have a better than average running game and a solid QB. Two big ifsssss

Doesn't CMU always get a 1st place vote from a biased reporter?

I agree.

Sometimes the 'you got to beat the best, to be the best' mantra isn't good because it may mean going to play @OSU, @Alabama, @Clemson, etc. (in MBB it would be @Duke, @Kentucky, @Villanova, etc.).

In this case, the MAC, with fair schedules where home and road games are rotated in a 2-year cycle, I have no trouble with us going head to head with NIU, TOL, WMU, etc.

I guarantee folks that if we beat 2 of those 3 teams the excitement will be real.

Don't blame Kilby! He was watching online, wearing his Louisville gear.

We could finish anywhere from 1st to 5th in the MAC West, so I don't put much stock in this poll. Half of them thought Miami would win the East last season...

Looking forward to seeing Creighton's interview.

Here's the depth chart: https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Di4EoiKWsAAyPjt.jpg:large

Wiegers ahead of Stiebeling for the time being. As we have found out, the two-deep isn't necessarily reflective of who will actually play, so Glass is probably still very much in the picture.

No real surprises at OL. Sidy Sow has indeed cracked the two-deep at LT, as many of us had expected. My 'surprise of the year' player Jeff Hubbard is sitting at BC2.

And again, this WILL be different than the starters we see against Monmouth, but I am a little surprised Odukoya isn't on the two-deep at TE. But some of the other newcomers expected to get substantial PT aren't listed either. So maybe they'll crack the two-deeps closer to Week 1?

RE: Unofficial 2018 FB Pre-Camp Thread
Dear Friends,
I don't buy those rankings for one minute. Yes we have to beat those teams ranked ahead of us, but i see no reason why we can't. Northern Illinois has a very tough non-league schedule, and in my opinion will be lucky if they end up 1-3. Throw in the possible physical beating they may take, and they may not have anyone left to play for the MAC West title. That's why we play the games.

Wow, Breck Turner doesn't crack the top 4 backs. Such a bummer. I still think he's the best all-around RB on the team.
