Looking at your remaining schedule San Jose State, Louisiana Tech, Nevada, and UTEP could be potential wins. If you win 2 and lose 2 of those games you'd be 2-9...better than last seasons 0-12 but still......

What were your expectations at the beginning of the year?

I expected us to finish 4-7 or so...

Knowing that we are still one of the youngest teams in the country (70% are either Soph, Fresh) coupled with our tough non-conference schedule, most fans would be content with a 2-9 record this year. (potential wins vs. UTEP, SJSU, Tulsa, Rice, La Tech) As long as SMU shows improvement during the season, fans will 'allow' for a 2-9 season.

Additionally, we've installed a new wide-open offense this season which has yet to find its way partly due to having a rotation of inexperienced QBs. Most SMU fans (at least myself included) believe our team will be geared for better success next season in our first year in CUSA. We are definately taking our lumps playing young players now, but believe the rewards will arrive in 2005 & 2006

I rarely agree with Austin Pony as I am his boss. The first game against TT was the first game I have watched until then end since Kansas. Yes I am disappointed but in sports unfortunately you need instant gratification. In no way am I giving up on this year, I am just getting excited about 2005 (yes, it is way to early for me to mention that). Tired of the negotivity on the boards - I am a die-hard SMU football fan.

I think the Ponies will find another win or two on this year's schedule and finish 2-9 or 3-8. I've always pointed to 2005 as the year we become a more competitive team as we will finally have more upperclassmen than RS Freshmen and Sophs on the OL & DL. If we can find some playmakers by next year, I wouldn't be surprised to see SMU compete for the CUSA west title, because I think there's going to be a lot of balance and no really strong teams in that group.

Revised prediction - (1-10). Too many injuries, too many killer mistakes at key moments and too many penalties.

Come on Tubbs! Give us something to cheer about this year!

If we can get some production at QB and have modest success on offense, the defense would be more effective. If we won two more games, we have something to build and recruit on.
