Shouldn’t affect us other than we might have to play against them.

“Teams from the Sun Belt Conference and American Athletic Conference are scheduled to play each year in the AutoNation Cure Bowl. However, in years in which either conference does not have enough deserving teams, defined as meeting the six qualifying win threshold, other FBS teams may be substituted before consideration would be given to five-win teams.”

Well the bowl game is the bottom bowl pick for each conference. Since, we only have 10 teams it's entirely possible that we exhaust all our eligible teams before the Cure Bowl gets to pick.

Finishing 'fourth' in the Sun Belt will come with a penalty of perhaps playing Liberty.

Is Liberty even bowl eligible this year? I thought this was their last year of transition.

That's what I thought as well. Unless they've already applied for a waiver, just in case lol

They are last in line.

They would only get it if:

1) All other 6 win teams have a bowl (or declined)
2) Any other exception is used (like 6-7 conference champ loser)

They are right before the 5-7 teams.

And of course Liberty still needs to win 6 qualifying games.

As long as we meet the FBS transition requirements then we are good to go. We have filled all scholarships so we are good to go from what I know.

No that's right. Just watched a video where Ian McCaw your AD says as much.

How so? Each team's first full year in FBS they are ineligible to participate in a bowl. That's an NCAA rule. 2014 was our first full FBS year; we went 9-3 (8-0 conference champs) and were still denied a bowl game.

What’s wrong with playing Liberty? They’re already at worst 4th in our league if they played with us.

Going to threaten a lawsuit for bowl eligibility as well?

Cure Bowl is not our bottom pick. They work regularly with Mobile and Montgomery to ensure that each bowl gets the team they want. That means in theory, our champion could end up in Orlando, or our worst bowl pick

Arizona and then Myrtle Beach when it takes over, have the last Sun Belt pick.

That's very debatable. No one in this league should lose to Liberty. We cannot have any repeats of the Great Boone Incident of 2014.
