The entirely plausible, but not at all likely, outcome of the 2018 Sunbelt season
Bored at work, figured I would see if it was even possible for not only every Belt team to become bowl eligible, but if we could all end in a tie. Well, here it is.
Pretty straight forward: green=win, red=lose.
I worked based on the idea that every team would go .500 in OOC (no FCS losses guys!) then just started plugging in wins and losses. From there it was just tweaking the numbers.
Disclaimer: I am well aware that the likelihood of this happening is slim to none. Further, this is not my prediction, nor do I think many of these "outcomes" are realistic. Just wanted to see if it could be done, and drum up some conversation in the offseason.
Go ahead and rip it to shreds!

You made one slight mistake.
At the end of the season, 2 Sun Belt teams must play for the conference title. If everyone finished 6-6. Two of them would have to play a 13th game, and the loser of that 13th game would drop to 6-7 and be ineligible for a bowl game...

I honestly didn't know that...
So hypothetically, you could have two 6-6 teams on top of one conference division and the team that wins the division championship could be locked out of the bowls while the other team is eligible.
Don't expect that to happen in any of the G5 leagues, but still...

Ah. Good point. Well in that case....who goes to the championship game? Everyone’s tied 4-4...

Troy at ULL. Both teams finished 3-1 against their division, and ULL beat Troy head to head to earn hosting rights.

Ohhh, I didn’t even consider the divisions...well that makes sense. Now I wonder if it’s possible that everyone not only finishes tied in conference but tied in their division too. Might try to make a new spreadsheet for that next lol. Thanks for pointing that out

You could also revise your sheet to have us all winning all 4 of our OOC games if you wanted to ensure no wanted to miss out on a bowl. Or at least 3 of them.

NCAA has said that a 6-6 that has to play a title game is bowl eligible in the past.
