RE: 2020 Football Recruiting
Is it even possible to watch this much film in such a short period of time and decide to make an offer? That's a whole lot of offers already considering it's for 2020. I'm not being funny, I'm asking a serious question.

Definitely can watch that much film and make an educated decision on talent. No way to witness in person character, work ethic and fit this quickly. But they don’t have to know that for sure at this point.

Certain characteristics the coaches look for jump out in film. You don't need to watch much to see whether a kid "has it". At this stage of the game, that is enough to get their foot in the door. I'm sure the process hasn't really started to see if any of these offered kids can even get admitted to the school. That is a worry down the road when the serious candidates are identified and the net is tightened. The key is knowing what athletes fit the program and getting in to these kids lives. That 1st offer holds a lot of power for kids fighting for a shot at college coaches believing in them. It's much harder to get back in early on a kid than it is to drop out later if things you don't like pop up.
It is certainly different than the measured approach to recruiting that we are used to, but I like it, and think it could get us some great recruits.

RE: 2020 Football Recruiting
The other part of recruiting that's very important is the relationship with the high school coaches. Typically once you have insight into a high school program that's successful year after year you can somewhat trust what the coach is telling the recruiter, and know that they've been well coached for four years. I've got no clue if this is going on, but the newness of the coaching staff probably indicates a different network than our last regime had.

RE: 2020 Football Recruiting
Several more first offers have gone out to Cali kids, including a 2021 QB. Too many to keep up.

Did notice that Coach Marion has started following a 6'9" 340lb OL out of California. Watching his video, it's just not fair on a HS level!

I'm beginning to feel we are shooting scholarship offers out of a t-shirt cannon.

2021 QB from CA we just offered has a private QB coach who Coach London has been following for a long time, so, obviously a much broader network.

His first step is slow, but with his length and strength, he just clears out the whole side. Massive 16 yo.
