The information based economy is here. It doesn't matter who wants it or not it's simple evolution. From an agrarian based economy to the industrial age and now to the information age. It's here, it's real, you can't put the Genie back in the bottle. But if it makes you feel better, call it the technological based economy. In the end its all bits and bites anyway.

I'm not looking that up to confirm, but if so...

There you go.

The radical conservative Steve Jobs. 07-coffee3

Amazes me how so many smart people can be so dumb. (not talking about Jobs, here. He was singularly brilliant), but all the others out there that apparently, frankly, don't know schit.

Astonishing.

and of course, depressing...

Now, having said that, if Trump can make a difference for the average Joe, especially those with skills that they've not been able to use for a decade or more because their jobs were sent overseas, then that's real progress. I want to see him totally change the dynamics as it relates to the lives of inner city blacks and rust belt workers who have been on the outside looking in for what seems like forever.

Do that, and he'll get a second term if he wants it.

So we are going to move away from being an information based economy and back to being a manufacturer based one? I got an idea, lets bring back jobs for wagon wheel makers. The world progresses, people need to change skill sets...or risk being left behind.

We need balance. Not everyone is cut out for “an information based economy”. We need to be producing stuff too, not just “information”.

Wagon wheels or buggy whips? Well, no. Of course not. But make it attractive/possible to make iPads or whatever here and employ Americans making US products to ship out to China and elsewhere? If it can work, why not?

Could go a long way to fixing a lot that currently ails our greater society.

somebody found the 'key' to the city......

I'll be checking my mail 04-cheers

Yea, I heard, and dispelled (to my professor, which he later used), the myth of the Japanese economy eclipsing ours in the late '80's. Just in time manufacturing, better engineering, smarter workers blah blah blah.
We've seen this play before. Japans been stuck in a rut, much the same rut we were in for a decade, only theirs has lasted 30 years. But we have seen life, thankfully, breathed back in to the common f#$%ing sense American work ethic.
Something that had been lost on too many people, many who just gave up hope and mailed it in.

Nope. We've never gone down without a fight, and the fight is on. Thankfully, We, as the public writ large, will win again.

#Winning - it never gets tiresome. never.

Thankfully the days of standing on an assembly line watching widgets whiz by is coming to an end. Other countries do that type of work now, and for a much cheaper price.

This is true.

But what hits bottom must go up. So I've been enjoying the ride since the collapse in 07. That thing started a string of events that were nothing to crow about.
