Men's Hoops and Women's Hoops
I believe the recruiting, the transfers in and out and the NBA backouts are now completed.

So what is your prediction for next year for both teams?

RE: Men's Hoops and Women's Hoops
I don't follow the women closely enough to make a prediction, but I think the men should compete with Toledo and Buffalo for the MAC title. 12 wins should be a minimum expectation for us, considering the talent we have coming back. The rest of the conference will be improved as well, so it won't be easy, but we have the skill and experience to make legitimate noise.

My expectation of the women's team is .500 or slightly better this season.

RE: Men's Hoops and Women's Hoops
Women’s sounds like 0.500.

Men’s will be somewhere between 12-6 to 14-4 in the MAC. And will have a good shot at making the NCAA or even NIT. I expect Thompson to be even more dominant en route to the NBA draft. Jackson and Minnie Both finished last year strong, and I expect them to pick up where they left off. The key lies in Groce stepping up to at least partially fill Bond’s role and McAdoo developing defensively. Also curious about Jones stepping it up- very unique player. If all this pans out, I am not sure how much Ellison, Silver and the newcomers are needed other than to hold up for a couple minutes a game.

BTW, the facilities keep looking better and better at EMU MBB. Saw the new locker room, etc. Friday. Very impressive.

One thing we haven't discussed much is that once the CBP football building is completed, the basketball teams will have free usage of the weight facilities in the basement of the Convo (they are now shared across sports).

As I've said before, for a student athlete looking to play MBB or WBB, EMU is a great choice. The facilities are absolutely first rate. And a very nice campus, as we know.

Is it just me or does Minnie really need to work on his dribbling? That was the slowest crossover I've seen in a while, hopefully, it was the end of a lengthy workout...

McAdoo looks like he put on a little bit of muscle. He doesn't look like a high schooler anymore. Same with Groce.

King is also I believe +25 lbs.

One thing I believe most fans know is that athletes tend to add some good muscle between their frosh and soph seasons. Kind by from boy to man.

That is one reason a lot of players have a performance spurt between their frosh and soph seasons.

I think you're underestimating the women's team. They were playing well at the end of the year, and the conference doesn't look to be as strong next year.

Toure is on campus as is Stephens. Paris coming July 1 (think that is the date).

I was at the Convo last Friday. I knew nothing of Rafus.

I did meet Toure, Stephens and Minnie. Almost 25% of the 2018/9 EMU team.

Frank, my friend... I think Matt Cline dropped some bread crumbs which we are missing.

"Returning 6’9” All Conference #BigGuard @0Lij5 "

https://twitter.com/mcline_emu/status/10...87521?s=19

What does that mean??? We have to forget 2017/8 and wonder what could happen in 2018. Big changes if Rafus and Toure are impact players.

PJ (PG), Minnie (SG), Rafus (SF), JT4 (PF), and Toure ©.

That group is probably taller than many NBA teams... Four players maybe 6' 10" or taller starting (I assume that Minnie, JT4, and Rafus are 6' 10" and Toure taller, yet).

P.S. I think Minnie 'corrected' Matt with a 6' 10" comment.

RE: Men's Hoops and Women's Hoops
For those who are more knowledgeable about hoops than me:

Everyone knows that it is possible to double or triple team the post. What happens if we move JT4 out to the perimeter with say Rafus at the other forward spot.
Does it force opposing teams to guard us literally man to man with no double teams? How does a team double team a PF? How would a team double team a SF, say Rafus? Would a guard sag off of Minnie to double Rafus? I'd think that would be suicidal.

What I'm getting at if a team has four very good shooters at PG, SG, SF, and PG, how does a team defend it? Does a defender just collapse on the guy who got the ball, thereby leaving his man wide open? Always leaves the center even up, no double team to get the 'garbage buckets.'

I'm not sure of a center moving out to the wing to guard a 3-ball shooter which would leave the lane wide open. How would a center like "big dog' move as if he was 225 lbs., not a big horse.

Best I can remember is watching the Cavs as teams tried to double team LeBron and seeing Love kill them from the outside while LeBron accumulates a bunch of assists.
