It's probably one department (guess which) having a hissy fit. Group power and political correctness run amok.

I can see the administration's side too. The problem here is that if you condone it you will set yourself up for looking bad and I don't think that it sends the right message anyways when coaches allow this (just my opinion). Win or lose, you want to be classy. As an alum, I want to be associated with classy behavior.

Everyone makes mistakes. The problem here is that it apparently continued after people got wind of it the way it sounds to me. I dunno. He's a pitching great coach so it's a shame.

with all the facts that I have knowledge , the Chancellor and AD are weak little men. You cannot take a person job away form them. I am sure we will eventually begin to hear the University spin. If this was such an awful thing then the head coach would also have to be fired which I do not believe he should either.

They wouldn't dare try this garbage on Coach Scalf. They picked a more vulnerable coach to scapegoat.

I have been very pleased with the administration we have now. But this incident is very disturbing to me. It's my understanding that Matt told the players to use a different term to rally behind. Don't know what happened after that, but I think this is more about the title IX complaint. Which Matt had nothing to do with.

Understanding this is a delicate topic, let’s remember to discuss and hold any contempt with class. I don’t like disapproving post(s), but I will if I feel it crosses a line.

To be fair, that was two days ago and basically a regurgitation of the Star News article. They just saw “sex toy” and are hoping for clicks and site traffic.

However, if this keeps up the AThletic Dept is likely in over its head here.

It's all over the web. If you google Brian Cain or UNCW baseball you will get a plethora of articles(all same info though)

Yeah. Not really any new info which means they aren’t digging too deep. Prob to busy looking for illegal kids separated from their illegal parents. Narratives and stuff.

And some people don't think that's okay either. There needs to be a proper workaround in both cases....

RE: Seahawk Baseball in 2019
Well, this isn't a fun topic to talk about, so its time for another summer ball update! lol.

CPL

Wilmington Sharks

Noah Liles has gotten the most playing time among the 5 Seahawks on the Sharks roster. He's hitting .231 (6-26) with a .355 OBP, is 1-2 on stolen bases, has 2 RBI and scored 3 runs.

Doug Angeli is hitting .313 (5-16) with 1 RBI and 1 SB. Catcher Zach Bridges is 2-7 with an RBI.

RHP Nick Bruno sports a 2.77 ERA with the Sharks in 13IP over 3 starts.

Jackson Meadows hasn't made any appearances yet for the Sharks.

Holly Springs Salamanders

LHP Chris Joyner has struggled in his last 2 appearances for Holly Springs. On June 11th, he allowed 2 earned runs in 3 innings of work, allowing 2 hits and also walking 2 batters. On June 17th he only made it a third of an innings, giving up 3 runs (1 earned) on a hit and 2 walks. His ERA has ballooned to 6.43.

Cape Cod League

Chatham Anglers

Greg Jones is off to a superb start in the nation's top summer league. Jones is hitting .263 (5-19) with a .500 OBP and .579 Slugging. He's showing excellent patience at the plate, drawing 9 walks. He's also hit 2 solo HR's and stolen 3 bases. In the field he's made 1 error in his 7 games, sporting a solid .962 fielding %.

Cotuit Kettleers

RHP Henry Ryan had a rough first outing with Cotuit on June 14th, his only appearance to date. The projected closer for the Hawks in 2019 allowed 2 earned runs on 4 hits without recording an out.

NECBL

Upper Valley Nighthawks

RHP Brody Lawson has made 2 appearances for Upper Valley, including 1 start. He's 1-0, having allowed 1 earned run (1.50 ERA) on 4 hits, striking out 7 and walking 3 in 6 innings.

Nick Bruno sports a 2.77 ERA with the Sharks in 13IP over 3 starts.

Jackson Meadows is coming off of minor surgery right after the season. Not sure we will see him this summer.

Sorry, not sure how I missed that! I don't think he's started any home games I've been at.

It would be good if Nick Bruno got rolling. Meadows looked good towards the end of the year.

That could certainly be the case, but we still need bodies at the position. The moment the 2018 campaign ended, we didn't have a single player capable of playing first base on the roster.
