I don't think it's an audition. I think you get called out for bad reporting enough you want to right the ship at some point.

While mildly refreshing to see someone with an ounce of honesty coming from VFNN, this is a bit like your kid looking for kudos and praise for not helping egg that house, or for doing their expected chores.

Keith Olbermann is also a creep too. And a slob. Lots of gross and yuck stories out there about him. Now compare to Sean Hannity - even liberals can't find anything bad to say about him.

Don Lemon also exploded on Bee and Keith Olberman. They did went after Don Imus who was on MSNBC when he said those racial things about the UConn. women's basketball team. Remember, CNN fired Kathy Griffin after her Trump hate filled photo shoot.
