OT: CUSA going to pod system in basketball scheduling.
Single Round robin among all conference opponents. Everybody plays a 2nd game against their travel partner, and then get divided into 5 team pods, playing each team in the pod once Total: 18 games
Interesting to see that we're not the only mid major league thinking of going this route.

Well considering their last conference tournament and the overall decrease in revenue for them if the C-Usa is doing it let's not.

II think that's a dumb idea, and just because some other idiots do it doesn't make it a better idea.

Considering the ULM WarHawks haven't been to the NCAAs since they were known as the Northeast Louisiana Indians and you have no shot in the near future, you have nothing to worry about then do ya. Your HC has been there 9 years and has still yet to win 100 games. If he just wins 12 games a year 100 is possible 12x9=108. Keith Richard at ULM 98-158 (.371). You must be proud.

It will keep the top teams from playing the 175+ RPIs the last quarter of the conference season. CUSA top 4 teams all had top 100 RPIs last year and the top 5 were in the top 110. So it will keep what happened to UTEP in 2013 from happening again. UTEP had an RPI of 37 going into their last 5 games when they played 5 teams with 200+ RPIs. They won each one of them handily and still tumbled to 72 in the RPI, knocking them out of being a bubble and possible at large team and an NIT birth.
CUSA is the only non P5/6 conference that had 4 teams with 25+ wins Middle Tenn 25, WKU 27, ODU 25 and Marshall 25. CUSA is only 1 of 2 conferences with 7 teams with 20+ wins, you can add UAB 20, UTSA 20 and N Texas 20 to that list.

I don't think it is dumb, though I think it is logistical mess if you aren't careful.
But really if your biggest worry is knocking out your best teams change your tournament format. There are tons of ways to do.
Give your top two byes into the semi-finals.
Play early rounds at home sites.
Don't draw a bracket until the season is over. Eliminate everyone who isn't above .500 this year you would have four, UTA vs UL and GaSt vs. Ga So. Last year you had five so A-State vs TXST, Winner faces UTA and again Ga.St vs GaSo. 2016 would have been UL vs UALR and ULM vs. UTA.
Drop the bottom four or the bottom six.
There are plenty of options.
