MBB Non-Conference Scheduling
Buffalo has announced a few more non conference scheduling dates that include road games at West Virginia (11/9), Syracuse (12/18) and Marquette (12/21). UB will also play at St. Bonaventure at some point, another NCAA Tournament team. UB did announce participation at the Belfast Classic in Northern Ireland, a good mid-major tournament that hopefully will see Buffalo play Stephen F. Austin.

I think the Bulls are doing all they can to at least be in the conversation for an at large bid at the end of the year if they don't win the MAC Tournament, but this season if the Bulls want to do that, they are going to need to win some of these games, especially Syracuse of Marquette.

Miami has road games against Xavier and Wright State for sure, home against Evansville, and a tourney in the Bahamas with a few interesting names like Loyola Chicago involved.

Ohio has confirmed home games with Iona and Marshall. Road games with Purdue and Xavier and a neutral site game (Jamaica) with Georgetown.

I love this. That type of schedule is how you enter yourself into the at-large conversation. Getting West Virginia (who lost their two top scorers) early in the season will be a great chance for the Bulls to get a signature win. Veteran teams with good guards usually do well against "Press Virginia". I'm excited to watch that one.

RE: MBB Non-Conference Scheduling
Toledo non-conf schedule released. Strong mid major heavy with no P5 type schools and only 3 true road games. the 3 NCAA and 1 NIT team @marshall @wright st, home vs Penn and Middle Tenn St are the highlights. Gulf Coast Classic field not yet finalized but includes FGCU and Colorado State so far, so looks like more good mid major comp there. MAC fans might frown on the lack of big names, but Toledo has been burned out by demanding travel schedules to fit into name team road games' calendars a couple recent seasons and thinks this schedule will provide enough challenges and still keep the guys home for games and classes as much as possible.

RE: MBB Non-Conference Scheduling
I do know EMU is far from having our OOC schedule finalized. Scheduling at EMU is very difficult. We don't have tons of money for home game guarantees and I don't think a lot of teams also want to play against our zone, which some may feel is like playing Army in FB.

Two huge games announced on the women's side as Toledo will host defending national champion Notre Dame and Buffalo will host national powerhouse Stanford this upcoming season. Those are two great events for the MAC and women's basketball.

Miami is also playing Butler this season.

Would be a fun matchup, but you have a link? I can't find anything on it.

11/5: vs. Taylor (exhibition)
11/10: @ Butler
11/12: vs. Midway (NAIA)
11/16-11/18: Bahamas Showcase (TBD)
11/24: vs. Army
11/28: @ Xavier
12/1: Wilberforce (NAIA)
12/5: @ Wright State
12/8: vs. Fort Wayne
12/16: @ NKU
12/20: vs. SC State
12/30: vs. Evansville

Our MAC schedule is frontloaded with home games again so that's a shame with how long our winter break is, though it's pretty mixed in terms of opponent strength on paper. You figure that UB will be the favorite while others like Toledo will be pretty solid, but anything can happen.

RE: MBB Non-Conference Scheduling
anything can happen, but last year's top 3 teams were Bufffalo (top team) EMU and Toledo, and then Ball State a solid 4th.

This year all of those top 4 bring back most of their talent and add in some a very promising player or 2. So, on paper the league looks to have an upper tier that is solidly ahead of the rest (Miami, Kent, Akron would be next 3 based on talent) although CMU has been consistently decent and has some guys back, BG has a solid core but very questionable depth and Ohio a similar situation, while WMU has a proven coach and NIU one of the league's better players.

Schedule wise EMU's is not official but probably the toughest with games at Duke and Kansas and likely NCAA team TCU and NIT team Rutgers with more games TBA. Buffalo has some tough road games and pretty competitive mid majors. Toledo has no P5 opponents but probably the fewest cupcakes w a lot of solid mid major teams like 3 NCAA teams in Marshall, Penn, and Wright St plus Oakland, Middle Tenn St, and possible exempt tourney games w Colorado st and FGCU. Ball St schdule isn't out yet but they are in a tough tourney and usually schedule well.

We could see 4 MAC top 100 teams and another year without any real clunkers at the bottom of the league. Best shot-talent and schedule wise for an at-large in a while.[/b]

RE: MBB Non-Conference Scheduling
UB missed their chance to upset Cuse last year...this year's team has F4 potential.

I expect Rob Murphy to bring EMU over around Christmas time. His wife still lives in Syracuse (she has a TV gig). Detroit is too big a market for her to get a job I'm figuring.

Jim Boeheim always helps out his old coaches.

For Toledo fans...Cornell brings in Jim Boeheim's oldest son on the team.
