If the two leagues were to begin a “showdown series” where the two leagues were to have multiple matchups of their teams in one week/weekend what pairings would you like to see? Would their be any trophies or hardware given to the winning conference?

Here are my matchups with quick thoughts:
*App state vs. Charlotte (a pretty obvious geographic matchup that we will see for the upcoming seasons) i think it’d also be fun to see a showdown against Marshall as well

*astate/lala/ULM vs La tech and or north Texas (quite a bit of history with these schools spanning multiple decades and conferences)

Astate vs WKU (Despite only battling as conference foes briefly, the few games between the Hilltoppers and red wolves were all emotional and bad blooded affairs)

*ULM vs Rice (while I wouldn’t rule out seeing another Regular season match up of the Cajuns/dawgs or even Astate vs la tech, dunnon if there will be a day when bulldogs brass would consider playing ULM in football, so another intriguing, out of the box matchup I think would be surprisingly fun would be owls vs the Warhawks)

Coastal vs Old Dominion (again another intriguing regional matchup between two of the newbloods)

Georgia State vs FIU/Georgia Southern vs FAU (battle of the Florida/Georgia line)

South Al vs Southern miss (border war between two programs that seemingly has quite a bit of heat despite the lack of play on the gridiron)

Troy vs uab/mtsu(well established instate rivalry with the Trojans and blazers and when MTSU & Troy battle for the palladium it was always a spirited contest)

Texas State vs utsa/utep (we’ve already got the I-35 rivalry occurring the next several years and another potential lone star battle could be pretty competitive between the cats and miners)

TXST/UTSA is already a near yearly event for the foreseeable future. Not sure when the last time we played UTEP is. I've been following TXST football for 13 years and I'm pretty certain we haven't played them in that span. We may both be in Texas, but we're 8.5 hours away. As opposed to about 45 minutes away from UTSA.

Yea sign us up for UNT. UTEP is barely in Texas. Just leave them off.

In all Your infinite wisdom, please allow any rivalry/competition/on field results be comparable to the "rivalry" against Western Carolina. Sweet, tiny, angelic baby please do not smite Appalachian State in the manner GS was smited (is that a word?) against GSU.

If this is for basketball I propose using the previous year's RPI numbers to create the match ups whenever possible. Helps both leagues with their tournament resumes and helps fill holes in OOC games with rotating home games between the leagues every other year.

Usm would be our main one. But Uab and la tech are pretty close too, closer than most sunbelt schools to us. Uab rivalry could be the i65 rivalry. All 3 of those schools are on our schedule for the next couple years.

this is exactly what I hear from the old timers regarding stAte vs Louisiana tech back in the good ole Southland days before unfortunately the program took a huge dip and LA tech advanced and disregarded the rivalry

I would love to actually share a conference with Marshall.

I wouldn’t mind UNCC. They are close, we have never lost to them, and don’t see that changing anytime soon. I really wouldn’t mind traveling under 3 hours to a game and visiting Charlotte.

They're a start-up program we've enjoyed kicking the crap out of in football and Charlotte is fertile NC/SC recruiting ground for us!
I'd much rather compete against the Little MAC conference, though, since some of their fans trash-talked the Sun Belt when inviting Coastal as if they have royalty of their own in that middling pack of institutions. It would be fun shutting them up for a season, at least...

If this is for football the Cajuns could be paired with LaTurd, USM, Or WKU. We hate all three of them. Have played LaTurd and USM more than any other school, with not the greatest of success. As far as WKU is concerned we have some serious all sports battles with the goat humpers.

I agree with most of the above except for GS vs FAU. With App vs Marshall already taken I would rather GS vs ODU or WKU.
