South/USM play season openers in '20 and '21. Should be a good time. I wish this would be the norm every year similar to the way UK/Louisville, Colorado/CSU, etc used to do it.

Plenty of Smack threads available to continue this derailment in.. lets stop having this bleed over into other threads.

Cleaned up the thread...back to the topic please or take it to another thread.

TXST vs UTSA is the one we have and I want. UNT is a good back up. UTEP is okay but third on the list.

The talk from App fans about Charlotte is interesting. Is that not how ECU fans look upon App? Someone always needs someone to look down on I guess.

What city does not have bragging rights over B-Ham? Kabul?

Guessing ODU wouldn't be included in a showdown like this; not because it's too good to play Sun Belt teams (I've seen my fill of App, thank you), but because it's a geographic outlier. Not UTEP bad, but it's still 325 miles give or take from the nearest Sun Belt opponent (Coastal). GSU has the CAA connection and GaSo had a couple of pretty damn great FCS playoff games with ODU, but the rest of you guys probably aren't biting at the chomp to play ODU, and the feeling's probably mutual. Plus you have to leave four CUSA teams out to make the numbers work anyhow.

Don't forget Rice.
I'd probably prefer a series with Rice over UNT.

I feel like Rice would be a big draw for our own fans for obvious reasons but something tells me they wouldn't bring many of their own fans. I think UTEP would be a bigger draw too than rice and I'd rather go watch us play in Denton or El Paso than Houston.

The talk from App fans about Charlotte is interesting. Is that not how ECU fans look upon App? Someone always needs someone to look down on I guess.

It's different in many aspects, ECU and App both have winning traditions to back up a little of the internal smack between the two. We are also football schools in a basketball state so there is actually a good amount of mutual respect.

UNCC is a urban football startup who thought they hit it big because of the close proximity to TV viewers who barely know they exist in sports. They have no real tradition besides a final four appearance decades ago, but like I said previously that is in basketball, so they don't get respect they haven't earned in football yet.

How so? Did GS have a in state G5 that had respectable football tradition we don't know about?

How could I forget. I want that since I live in Houston. Maybe it'll happen now that Bailiff is gone.

Makes sense. I didn't follow back when y'all had more going with ECU so I can understand the history now. Both schools have passionate fan bases for non-P5 programs.
