RE: FUTURE FOOTBALL SCHEDULES
2022 looks pretty good. There are only two home games that are above average but both the VT and BYU should be special for different reasons. I'm surprised we aren't playing New Mexico State annually after 2019. I expected both of us to be a little desperate for games to fill out the schedule.

Road games to Wake Forest, Arkansas, and Old Dominion are nice. FIU and Southern Miss add for nice recruiting opportunities. I like there isn't a concentration of home or away games in a row.

Too bad we still have an FCS opponent but I understand why. At least it's a familiar face. Overall I'm pretty happy with it. One thing is we don't have a bye week until after our 10th game or so. We may be gassed and/or injured pretty bad but we'll have a full roster of scholarship players by then.

That sums up what I would like for a schedule. 1FCS, 7 G5, BYU and Southern P5 games.

This is a good schedule for the near future. 3 P5's, 8 G5's, and 1 FCS. 6 home games and 6 road games and they are spread out well. VT and BYU at home. The bye week is late in the season but the FCS game is mid-season which helps. I think this season has potential to be a very special year with HF+CO recruiting and system in full swing when this season starts. (Note: I am presuming HF will be around a few years.)

Sep. 9 at Coastal Carolina
Sep. 16 at Buffalo
Sep. 23 Eastern Michigan
Sep. 30 at Miami (Ohio)
Oct. 14 at Marshall
Oct. 21 UMass

Does anyone know if the spring game will be available to watch as a replay afterwards? I won't be able to watch it live.

ASOR has LU at 7-5 for 2019. Do you agree?

RE: FUTURE FOOTBALL SCHEDULES
I'm keep coming back to 7-5. I think Syracuse, BYU, and Virginia are the probable losses. Hampton, Maine, and at least one of the New Mexico State games should be a win. That puts us at 3-3. The remaining six against Buffalo, Louisiana, UMass, NMSU, New Mexico, and Rutgers shouldn't be too bad. I can realistically see four wins out of that group.

RE: FUTURE FOOTBALL SCHEDULES
We did go 6-6 last year with poor defense and not much preparation of tackling before the season. Anywho, I think we can win unexpected games this season with the the football in that we have on staff. 7-5 is the the minimum expectation, but I wouldn’t be surprised if we win 8-+ games either. Expect the unexpected!

8-4 would be so very good. It would be overachieving in my opinion.
7-5 is a bit more realistic and attainable.

I'm thinking the same. The D needs a lot of work. A lot of talent is returning which helps. The coaching staff looks like a major upgrade but it is a coaching transition year. Still upgrading the overall talent on the team. Similar schedule from last year. All this looks like a one win improvement from last year.

Maybe we will be surprised. I was thinking 4-8 last year and LU went 6-6.

RE: FUTURE FOOTBALL SCHEDULES
Myrtle Beach Bowl should have an alternate agreement with Liberty, of course hopefully after 2020 Liberty will only need 6 wins instead of the probable 7 with 2 FCS.

Personally I’d prefer the Cure Bowl. Orlando, the game is being moved to ESPN and the potential opponents are better with the Cure imo.

We have one more season with the deal with the Cure Bowl though. Who knows what we will do next year and beyond. Is McCaw and associates working and some deals and negotiations? You better believe it.

We'll just make the college football playoffs and not have to worry about it.

RE: FUTURE FOOTBALL SCHEDULES
https://fbschedules.com/ncaa/liberty/

If we examine our future schedules, I think that can show where we are on the pecking order in the college football world. Notre Dame generally plays 8 or 9 P5 schools per year; BYU generally plays around 6. The remaining independents don't generally play too many. So if you subscribe to the idea that you are who you play, who is Liberty playing against?

I'll start with the 2021 season because Liberty was in a mad scramble to get a schedule done and had to do whatever they could to be compliant as an FBS school. 2021 reflects the first season without two FCS opponents scheduled. 2019 is another solid season that stands out as that is the last season with a home-home in-season duel with New Mexico State. Only using 2021 and 2022 (the only full seasons finished per fbschedules.com) winds up like this:

Conference USA - 8 (3 home/5 away)
Independents - 5 (4 home/1 away)
Sun Belt - 3 (1 home/2 away)
ACC - 3 (1 home/2 away)
FCS - 2 (2 home/0 away)
SEC - 2 (0 home/2 away)
MAC - 1 (1 home/0 away)

This clearly shows we are a G5 school and equivalent to a C-USA member. The following is our totals between 2018 through 2020:

Independents - 9 (3 home/6 away)
ACC - 7 (1 home/6 away)
FCS - 6 (6 home/0 away)
Conference USA - 5 (4 home/1 away)
Sun Belt - 3 (2 home/1 away)
Mountain West - 2 (1 home/1 away)
MAC - 2 (1 home/1 away)
SEC - 1 (0 home/1 away)
Big Ten - 1 (0 home/1 away)

I don't think there is much to take away from the above. We were obviously desperate to fill a schedule as fast as possible which is evidenced by our 6 FCS games and one-sided scheduling with the ACC, SEC, and Big Ten. After 2020, we'll be an established FBS school with no excuses for our schedules. We have a very winnable schedule with minimal P5 representation despite having 12 annual games to fill. This will give us the opportunity to hopefully build a winning tradition at the FBS level and develop a strong culture even if the competition isn't the highest.

It is interest to see the P5 opponents we have scheduled 2024 and beyond. They are exclusively ACC schools that are located in Virginia and North Carolina. This tells me they want a local school to bring fans and buy tickets, concessions, parking, etc.

It’s been discussed a bit but the idea that we are using for future scheduling is:

3-4 P5 games
7-8 G5 games
1 FCS game

They are going to want to stay more local with the P5 home games for traveling fans. We will try to get into Florida and Texas a good bit. We are going to be scheduling a lot of CUSA, SBC and MAC schools because of proximity. AAC to a lesser extent. I imagine Ian is working hard to get ECU on the schedule.

RE: FUTURE FOOTBALL SCHEDULES
Would like to see a home game with UConn replace one of the two FCS games on the schedule in 2020 and then play them three more times from 23-25 as part of a home/away four game contract. Then see how things are lookin after that.
