Well the people who might have chipped in as an eff u to UAF won't be so inclined to do so.
The real issue for UALR is operating funds. They have to make a pretty significant infrastructure investment (weight, training, offices, meeting space, practice field) and probably can find people willing to put money into those things even though it means baseball may not get the new stadium.
The real challenge is operating revenue.
UALR would need $10 million more than they make now, every single year to fund a competitive program.
Finding capital funds is a totally different issue than operating funds.
UALR has a higher athletic fee than AState or UCA, for comparison their current athletic fee per hour is what UTSA increased their fee to in order to add football and unlike UTSA, the fee doesn't cap at 15 hours.
Then there is Title IX. UALR already isn't in an ideal Title IX situation at 14 sports. They are adding wrestling so that balance tilts worse. Throw football into the mix and it gets positively bad.
