Whats up with the track? Any way to remove that?

I’m guessing with a bulldozer. The track will be replaced by turf, along with new turf for the field, after the Luke Combs concert in May. The hill should be regraded and moved toward the South End Zone in time for next season, as well.

Central Michigan's Chippewa Champions Center is progressing nicely, scheduled for completion before the first home game this fall.

This is awesome! Congrats to SDSU.

I would love to get them into the American. Easier and more predictable travel than to Boise, ID.

Nice. Looks so much different than my Black Friday NIU/CMU trip in 2017. Will they still have the gift shop and cannon in the corners?

The cannon is to remain on the hillside and I've not heard any news about the gift shop moving, but I imagine it will remain at the northwest corner of the stadium.

Wow.

This is going to be a difference maker in the MAC West. Reminds me a lot of Miami's football operations building.

Haven't had a chance to post this over here, but back in November North Texas announced they will be building a new practice facility for our golf programs.

[Image: CCGD_North_Texas_Concept_Plan_7_5_2019_1_.jpg]

The complex will contain both indoor and outdoor features. North Texas has 4 NCAA national titles in Men's Golf.

North Texas is also in the early stage of expanding their athletic center to roughly twice its current size, and renovating parts of Apogee Stadium.

This was an interesting item in that article:

Quote:For example, San Diego State revised the contract to do away with a clause that would require it to set aside the funds needed to buy the site, demolish the existing stadium, construct the one new, build the river park and implement traffic improvements.

SDSU doesn't want to set all those funds aside because they don't have all of that money (the Cal State board authorized the issuance of $350 million in bonds, and SDSU will later ask for at least $300 million more, per an article linked farther above) and possibly because they want to leave the door open to continue using the old stadium indefinitely rather than issuing bonds all at once to tear down the old stadium and build a new one immediately.

It's probably $30M to $40M to tear down the stadium.

For you construction nerds

All about the cables being used for the new Dome roof in Cuse

The Dome is now closed to all sporting events. It has been turned over to Haynor Hoyt

The old roof will be lowered in about 2 weeks and the old fabric and cables removed. IIRC the roof panels cover about 9 acres of surface.

RE: Stadium Renovation and Construction Thread
Well and with yesterday's bad day of news there was some positive. The Dome in Syracuse deflated. A new roof is on track to be installed this Spring/Summer. It will be part of an ongoing multi-year renovation.

The only thing I worry about is if the construction gets suspended for the CoronaVirus. We might be traveling vagabonds for part or all Fall.
