Mens' Basketball Recruiting Class 2018
We had all late signees, yes we may add maybe one more.

So we have freshmen wing Davion Stephens at 6'5, 6'6 no other known offers outside of ours.

Boubacar Toure 6'11, 240 who had an injury plagued career at Grand Canyon and will have two more years here at EMU also he was immediately eligible.

Damari Parris 6'1, 170 out of Trinity JUCO which played Div I JUCO. Damari had several low major offers and one from UTEP. He will have two years to play.

We have lost Nobles who was a valuable 6th man, Harris and Bond the MACs defense player of the year.

As it stands today we also have redshirt wing Tariq Silver.

A good sign is that many of the JUCOs and prep players we offered had multiple D-1 offers.

As we know EMU is a better than average mid major. Should we done better with this class? Did we do well? Thoughts?

RE: Mens' Basketball Recruiting Class 2018
It seems to be all shaping up to be a HUGE year for EMU hoops.

- We return almost our entire core of highly skilled players.
- The freshmen last year had a lot of playing time, this should result in major growth to this winter.
- We have at least to signees that can come in and be major contributors off the bench and spot start.

Looking forward to...
- Bud Jones' development, a solid 6th man off the bench to give Minnie or Thompson a rest and provide quality minutes.
- Ty Groce, if we do anything, he needs to have huge strides.

Considering the starting 5 we have, this class was very, very solid for Murph and co. It'll be interesting to see what next years batch looks like with Thompson, PJ, and Minnie.

Regarding "A good sign is that many of the JUCOs and prep players we offered had multiple D-1 offers." But the bad news, we signed no one with multiple mid major offers.

I believe Wetherbe gave Murphy last season so he could evaluate the program. Murphy will once again have top tier talent for the conference. I wouldn't even chose Buffalo's big three over ours (Minnie, Thompson, and PJ). Groce and McaDoo form a formidable starting five that should contend for the MAC Championship.

However, we have to get out of the gate with a great start and finish strong. I believe next year's team should win at least 22 games which means Murphy obtains an extension.

This will be Murphy's most successful roster returning, with only two rotational losses (not to minimize what Bond and Nobles meant to us) and the retention of our top three scorers from a team that finished 3rd in the conference. The pieces are there to be MAC title contenders, in what will be an improved overall conference.

I'm still bummed about losing Nobles. He wasn't a stand-out, but he provided versatile depth, good defense, and he found a home with that corner 3. If he was returning, I'd like our chances even more. Now, we will be a bit thin on the wing, and will need the young guys to step up. But when depth at a position is your most alarming concern, that usually means you have some pretty damn good starters. In all likelihood, the Big Three will each be getting 35ish minutes a night. This team will go as Thompson, Minnie, and Jackson go, with some supporting help from the likes of Groce, McAdoo, and Parris.

Echoing what luckey said, I would also take our three best players over the three best on any other team in the conference. We'll see if Murphy can be the difference, and get these guys over the hump.

Agree. We have a solid nucleus but I'm glad that 2 of our newcomers have D-I experience. That has served us well in the past.

And, of course, the 2017/8 newcomers and whether or not some of them have 'spurts' in their abilities.

I think most here expect McAdoo to be the one most likely to improve the most. He should be very valuable.
